Ok. don't freak. I have had dreams of things like that too....usually I am the one being shot...anyway...usually dreams with death in them is meaning that you are letting go of something or someone in your life.....not totally letting them go but letting go of the emotional burdon that that relationship or that situation has had on your life. You are letting go of something subconsciously. You will begin to realize and understand it more down the road. I went through that same thing and my boyfriend went through it recently.

Sometimes we act out in our dreams what we cannot act out in real life. The fact that you remember the dreams is good actually. Your subconscious mind is probably trying to connect will your conscious mind to tell you that there is a conflict in you. Men can invoke these sorts of feelings:) It is not just jealousy or revenge or any of that crap. It is your mind working to resolve problems.
I suggest you seek therapy to resolve your emotional dependence on that man, and fast, or this is going to keep eating at you and consume your thoughts. There are plenty of free therapist out there. All universities have them and public or county hospitals, usually free.
Don't ignore it and "Grow up," because grown ups do not do that. They face their fears and work throught them:) You can come through it a stronger person.

Dreams like that usually mean that you are having a real problem with him being with another woman. Maybe you don't want him but you don't want anyone else either.
Or he could be doing something with the kids that you don't agree with or want (like asking for custody) and killing him would make that problem go away (in the fantasy world)
Whatever you do... don't act on your dreams. It would be like having a dream that you are having sex with a TV star and then stalking him in real life cause you had sex. lol

If you are killing someone in your dreams, you are probably expressing hostile feelings. Consider this an opportunity to look at your negative feelings and decide what would be the best and the least destructive way to address them

very likely, you still have unresolved emotional processes at work in your being. (ok, you know this already ... just acknowledge their existence without going overboard) As a way to both deepen your insight and potentiallly to dispell the process(es) power to adversly affect your sense of well being, I would advise keeping a dream-journal.
You will learn a lot. Keep it next to your bed and write immediately upon waking.
good luck
