I really want a conure that is quiet but says a lot of words. If I want a playful, talking conure, what kind should I get?

Conures are well-known for their antics, their color and personalities. Talking conures are extremely rare and even then they only manage to make unclear vowel sounds which you've to do assist with a lot of imagination to believe it is talking. They are definitely not quiet. They are not as loud as the cockatoo or macaws but they have such an unbelievable pitch and screechy quality that I place them right on top for birds with calls that can drive me insane. For something quieter and a good talker, I would suggest you look at a Quaker Parrot.

This is nearly impossible. ALL conures are noisy, it does contain degrees of noisy. Suns, Jandays, Gold Caps, Sundays, Nandays, TOP the loud noise makers.
GreenCheeks, Marron bellies and others belong to this faily, such as painteds, or quieter, but don't speak very well.
Although all CAN talk most don't, it takes alot of time and patients. Even a tiny parakeet makes tons of noise and also can speak. But honestly you might want to look at Senegals , ( Not a Conure), and that family of parrots, as they ARE among the more quiet, but are NOT amoung the best talkers.
There is no such thing as a QUITE bird which speaks well. The Squaking and Talking kinda go hand in hand. (perhaps a Congo is the closest thing to such a bird)

Good luck. I know they can be playful and all but I've never seen a quiet one. They are the first ones to SCREAM for attention when someone walks into a pet shop. Never seen one talk though-maybe they can but I've only seen them whistle tunes.
