In the 1988 U.S. presidential campaign, Republican presidential candidate George H. W. Bush reportedly said, "I don't know that atheists should be regarded as citizens, nor should they be regarded as patriotic. This is one nation under God." President Bush never apologized for the comment.

What would have happened if he said blacks intead of atheists in that statement?
