Tap his muzzle and say firmly, NO if he continues repeat the action ,this time use the finger wag method ,if he stops reward him with a treat,if he continues, repeat the action this time with a stroke on the head to reassure him you are aware of his concern for you.If he stops reward him ,if not repeat the action.Be patient he is guarding you and he feels it is his responsibility to protect you,he will learn that you are the leader of the pack and he is dog no2.By this action he understands that you have invited your visitors into the pack den and they are not a threat to anyone.Training action.!.1.Tap muzzle, command NO.2.Tap,NO,wag(finger). 3.Tap , NO ,wag , (finger) stroke head,4.Tap,NO,wag,stroke,SHhhhhhhh,(this is shush.)Place your finger against your mouth,to indicate silence. If he stops reward him ,do not shout or raise your voice because he will think you are barking and he will follow suit.Command him to sit when you have closed the door then allow him to circulate.Touch his head to keep him in check particularly if children are present.Good luck.

my grandma prefers the shock collar, my parents prefer the muzzle (it muffles the sound). I saw a dog owner spraying the dog every time it barked so that may help and not be harmful in any way. I think that the horn idea would get a little anoying (not a big noise fan). hope that helps

Having the same problem with a new puppy, also worried about neighbours?? Got a horn from the pet store last night. you homk it when they bark and it distracts them, was only £2.99 so worth a try??
Do you know your question is under the cats category???????????

Personally shock collar is somehow cruel. Talk to your dog to distract him(dog treat, walkie)when he's barking.

put some nails in a clean empty tin or jar. if you're dog does something you don't want it do to shake it. he'll not like the noise.we did it with our GSD. he was like yours. apart from that he was 3 years old when we got him.still worked. should be easier with yours
