First off, whether you like wine or gin is a personal taste.
So wine is made from grapes over 1000 different types of grapes can be used and are used. So a statement like wine is nasty is like saying meat is nasty you may feel that way, or maybe you just haven't tried one you like. All wines are different and can very by a large degree in taste.
Second, Brandy is wine it is simply distilled wine, but whiskey is actually distilled beer. There are also many different whiskey's. There is Scotch Whisky (Personally my favorite) which is made from grain and is also flavored with peat fire. Irish whiskey which is made from grain as well but no peat is used then there is Bourbon (also called Tennessee whiskey or a few other names, this is things like Jack Daniels) this is made from corn and has a very different flavor profile then Scotch or Irish Whisk(e)y's (The Scottish drop the e).
Tequila is made from the sap of the Blue Agave plant. It is made like brandy, but from the sap instead of grapes.
Gin is made from Juniper Berries as state previously but is made more like brandy than like Whisky.

Brandy is the least distilled ( lower alclohol content ). Whiskey is the highest distilled (highest alcolol content: can reach 190 proof). Gin is rarely above 80 proof, and tequilla rarely tops 80 proof either. So if a bottle of Evercler states 95 alcohol by volume, thr proof of the bottle will be 190 (practicall laboratory grade alcohol the can safely bre consumed by human in small quantitis. These are where the different tstes and effecs come from on the body human. Blow it out y'all, skin it back meet us in the pnthoushizzlewith our bluntmizzles... ... oh pardon Qood question.

First off... brandy, whiskey, gin and tequila are not wines... wine is nasty. They are all made differently... tequila is made with juice from the agave plant, gin is nasty, it's made with juniper berries, whiskey is made with barley, and brandy is made with distilled wine that has been aged... I guess it all depends on what you like, if that was a part of the question... you need to try out to find what you like. I personally love vanilla vodka, but that's just me... everybody is different.

Wines are produced from different grapes that have different traits. In addition, wine makers will work hard to bring out the flavors they want in a particular wine. This is why wines taste differently. Some wines have similar traits whiles others are vastly different.
You might want to visit some wineries and go wine tasting if you have a wine region near where you live. This is a great way to taste and become familiar with a variety of wines.

They are simply fermented food & fruits which evolved into alcoholic beverages under controlled conditions and temperature which we humans made for life enjoyment besides economical benefits.
It's like smoking. If you don't touch it; it will not hurt you. If you wish to do so; do it in moderation for its health benefits. Remember any good things in excess is bad for the body on the long run.
