Works will not get you saved, lest any man should boast.

The Greek word means faith/believing. Clearly this is a different concept than works.

Martin Luther reference to works he meant sacraments.

In addition to faith and works, there is hope, love, and grace. The New Testament carefully uses all of them with precise meaning.

I have heard the scripture many times.

But did you know that in James when it says "For faith without works is dead." The word dead, in the Greek connotes barren.

Think of this verse "If all of a man's work be hay wood and stubble, he shall suffer loss, yet shall enter in as one escaping through the flames." It means that if you do not perform great works of faith in your life, you will suffer loss of some eternal rewards ie "Some shall recieve the crown of." but yet shall be saved. The work of Christ saves you, the works of the flesh bring reward or discipline. Great question
THE LEVEL OF YOUR FAITH WILL BE DEMONSTRATED BY YOUR WORKS. YOU CAN'T HAVE GREAT WORKS WITHOUT GREAT FAITH. Really thought provoking question

I will show my FAITH through my works. THat is what the Bible teaches!

JAMES 2:18-19
"But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder."

It's impossible to prove your faith without works. That's like saying, "prove to me you speak French without actually speaking French." Anyone can believe in God philosophically, but real faith is when you put your money where your mouth is.
