Who can say there is or isn't?
There is no proof that a God exists only a mystery which has no answers. People will say there is a life herafter but how can they really know? No one has returned to give proof. It is a hope they have to make sense of their miserable lives, that their living is not all in vain.
There are certainly unexplained wonders in the Universe that give rise to us believing something must exist beyond our knowledge.
For those that refer to Jesus as God, then get it right, he was a prophet and student of Saul. He never claimed to be the son of God. I think he said something along the lines of .."Those are your word not mine.. If the texts can be considered true.
As for the commandments and Moses . How come it took a God 40 days and 40 nights to carve out 10 commandments on two tablets of stone, ( that Moses broke in temper and had to spend another 40 days and nights getting God to do it all again.). That doesn';t sound too God like to me. With all this thunder and lightning booming voices and burning bushes. I would have thought a good laser pencil might have been available wouldn't you? So no, there is no God!

It is really a matter of belief.
God spoke through the prophets. You either believe this or you don't. This revelation is not observation, so scientific techniques will not help.
From the prophets we learn God is an eternal spirit (wind). God existed before He created everything we can observed.
We know that heaven is where God is and hell is where he is not. Earth is where we are. The heavens and Earth have a beginning and an end.
Finally, we know we were created as eternal beings, but now we are mortal. This means we are born and we will die. However, there is hope that we have eternal life as well.
So is there a God? The prophets say so. Now what do you belief.
Answer: The notation of God comes from the prophets as documented in bible.
Note: God never revealed his gender, so I should be writing God/Goddess for God and he/she/it for he.

there are arguments for and against the existence of 'god'. all of them are very very persuasive and believable. my question is, does the answer serve any purpose? do we just need scientific proof to 'believe' that god exists?
belief is a function of faith and this faith, for it to be absolute, needs to be beyound reason and logic. the only way that you will get faith of the absolute kind is by 'experiencing' it. the only way that you can experience this is by facing adversity early in life. but who goes voluntarily looking for adversity? many of us are not even 'wired' properly to cope with adversity and may end up depressed or mad.
faith in god or a person or in yourself is essentially a perception. each one's perception is that one's reality, according to the heisenberg theory of uncertainty, so if you have faith, you will believe anfd if you believe, then that is your reality.
all of us need psychological crutches to face life which is everchanging. what is the problem if we create this figure of 'god' and start believing that he/she is that omnipotent entity somewhere out there always protecting us?
charles darwin and richard dawkins may want us to believe in evolution and natural selection as 'god', but we ordinary mortals need something that is simple and tangible to hold on to during our journey of life.
god, whether real or not in the absolute sense, is the creation of man.
according to the anthropic principle god and the universe exist because of us, so believe in your speciality by practising unconditional kindness, acting 'correctly' always, being happy about your speciality, and celebrating that speciality by being joyous and useful to others every minute of the day..

The one who makes us pay for our every action-good or bad, he/she has something destined for us at every moment-Read the Bhagvad Gita.

Yes there is! I'm 100% sure. He's done many miracles for my loved ones and I. Jesus created us, loved us, died for our sins, and rose from the dead. The Bible is the most read book in the world. Even some of the most brilliant scientists believe in Him. If you seek Him, you will find Him. Try going to church or reading the Bible. God Bless!

God is the speck of light within you and the big force that lights the entire universe without us. You fail to see him, when you ignore the light within you. All the spiritual exercises are but the attempts to see him within you. There are many spiritual leaders who were looking for him all over the places and remained clueless about his existence, until they came back to see him within themselves.
