Sugarcane juice is extracted from the sugar cane stalk. It is a sweet drink cosisting of 70% water. It is consumed as is or can be added with lime and ginger juice for flavour. It is very widely consumed in tropoical countries. It provides an instant dose of glucose to the body and is very invigorating and refreshing. It has a wide array of nutrients, vitamins and proteins. Unlike white sugar it does not go through artifical processes. In traditional medicine it is consumed for the cure of jaundice i.e. it is very good for the recovery of the liver. It is consumed very widely as a substitute to colas and other aerated drinks. There is carbon dioxide, no caffeine and no added colours or preservatives, and yet it is instantly refreshing. The only negative is that people who have a tendency to catch a cold quickly, should not consume more than a glass a day.

Fresh cane juice is indeed refreshing. BUT, it contains sugar and if taken in excess, may be harmful to the body. However, I've heard that through research it has been possible to produce sugar cane with a low Glycaemic Index, which might be even benefical for those with diabetes.

It is better when you get ot freshly made.. the bottled version have to add preservatives and are not nearly as good.

I am sure some would try it. I might even try it, but I would not drink it on a regular basics. Maybe a bottle every now and then.
