Theres a girl that i like that im trying to get to through her brother (which im friends with). A couple days ago he came over to my house and went back to his house later during the day and she (the person i like) invited us to watch a dvd with them. then a couple days later i went there to give them something and she opened the door for me and after i gave the things to her i asked her if she remembered how she asked me to watch the movie with her and her brother, after she said yes i told her that i would like to return the favor by taking her to the movies (she said ok) then i asked her how about friday, and she said "i dont know where im going to be on friday" i said "ok well maybe later then". As friday rolled along i went over and found out that they all went somewhere together....so i was wonderring, did this even sound like i was asking her out, and if so did i just get shot down?

This could really depend. Does she flirt with you still? Cuz if she does then she probably does like you but just had plans. Maybe you should ask her when she is free? Now if she doesnt show any interest then yes my frined you have been shot down! Hope it went the other way and continues to! may the best of luck to you...

You SO got shot down! You asked her out (a charming strategy, by the way, this returning the favor thing), she made some weak excuse (I might be washing my hair on Friday), and has made no further effort to contact you. If she was interested, she would have either made the time to go out with you, or she would have rescheduled. The least you could have expected was a phone call. She would have to have been asleep to have misconstrued your invitation so you can rule that out. Sorry to have to tell you, but she's not interested. If you pursue it she might take pity on you. Does that sound good? I didn't think so.

You did sound like you were asking her out. But she said ok and when you asked about Friday she didn't know where she was going to be but you never mentioned another day so really you didn't get shot down. Ask again for another day and if you get the same line just move on she's not interested and then you would know if you were being shot down.

I think she took it as a friendly way. Depends on how you said it too though. It could've been like "I owe you. Let's go out sometimes" friendly or "You know I really owe you one so how about we go somewhere where it's just the two of us. How about friday for a movie?" dating-wise.
