the batteries that came with the camera runs out of juice very quickly. Can I use ANY double A batteries or does it have to be the exact same batteries that came with the camera?

Take Tom Tom's advise make sure rechargeable batteries say NiMH on them. I too have a Sony DSC H2 and found that they are very good on batteries. Try using LCD screen a lot less and take your pictures looking throuh viewfinder and NOT lcd screen. Remember if the battery icon stays white battery it's ok.

if not - go to walmart or circuitcity
get rechargeable ones and a charger
make sure the battery says 2500 or 2700 on it
