Religion is necessary as a buffer between mankind and the supernatural which we don't understand in proper perspective. However, just as there are diverse cultures and a wide variety in human nature, a single religion for all men seems impossible. That's not bad, because diversity is the scheme of nature - a single religion will entail a stagnation of ideas & a cult culture, not a 'Religion' which explains our very existence.
Just as the sun is one, but is reflected in various mirrors in different perspectives according to the type of the mirror itself, Religions also vary between different societies, cultures, time-frames and people.

Religion is very necessary for some people--and not necessary for others. One religion for all mankind would be wrong--and would be going backwards to the days when there was no freedom of religion.

Better than asking this kind of question, if people make their childrens to understand the purpose of religion and the god is one, it is just differ by name. When people understand this first and tell and make their childrens understand, if these are followed by the whole forthcoming family and friends too. There might be a peace and mankind.

Yes, its necessary . Its the back bone of all mankind. Mind it no religion teaches to be unkind to any other living being. It also says to treat equally to all in this universe.
So, its the thinking and narrow mind of people which had to be changed.
Note: You are asking nothing new, its already there. Its only the politicians and religious/spirutual bosses who have covered it, for their own goals.

like the printing press, and then the low value of pamphlets, and then radio and tv, the internet is both a boon and a bane to faith. examine the heritage of the reformation and the printing press. study the English Bible Society printing 14 million copies of the Bible. The Reformation ban on non secular pictures became comfortable for the relatives Bible. seem on the effect of the Radio Gospel Hour between evangelists immediately. seem on the Vatican information superhighway website seem at information superhighway requests for prayers and social action. Secrecy or imagined different-worldliness of non secular chief is a detriment to piety between the plenty; its lack of life is sweet. Rumor and calumny have continually existed, yet they, too, are getting into the internet age. The worst nightmare of religion isn't verbal change, yet being silenced and being denied the liberty to coach.

That is the goal of every organised religion, who are engaged in proselytising. Islam and Christianity want to bring in their own religion to the exclusion of all other religions, by sword and by lure respectively. In the beginning of human civilisation, they must have been one religion, not established by one teacher but evolved by practice of all the living beings. Now, it has given rise to a multiple of faiths. If you establish a single religion, by the force of sword or of lure, before long, it will give rise to more religions. As long as there are diversity of men and society, you cannot prevent more faiths and religions emerging. A single religion is fundamentally opposed to the natural selection and progression of society.

Yes,
Religion is our heartbeat. if it fails we will be collapsed in culture and relationships.
To understand the important of religion you must know which is religion.
Please don't think chritianity and Islams are religion. Also don't think Hindu is a religion.
As we forget to think about the reality we fail to get in to religion.
Chritians and Muslims always have intensions to occupy others and steal others wealty. you can understand by their past history.
If you want I can answer you what is their history separately..,
Now understand why hindu is not religion.
There is no religion in the name Hindu Now (?) and earlier also.
When the forigners (Muslims-Arabs and Chritians - whites) occupied our nation, for their understanding they used to call entire Hindustanis as Hindus. Hindustan had well organised religions of Saiva, Jaina, Pudda, Vaishnava, Sakta.. religions which are forgotten now.
Those religions organised based on culture as well as family relationship. That means a good life through right religion of our choice - like & dislike of ours.
All those religions had a comman scale to measure human kind.
that is called Brammana, Chatriya, Vaisya, Suthra. If you want you can discuss this in detail later. Now...
Then, How come Hindu become religion?. When the forigners idendified us as Hindu, they used the same to communte with their circumstances. That is the way its become All Hindustanis become Hindus.
And they wanted destroy our culture and inter-relationship they organised their slaves - body guards - in the name of conversion.
In the war against forigners they worked as spies. (Both of Muhals and Engish time.) So That is way the Anti-Nation forces established as Muslims and Christians. I can provide more proofs, If you ready to hear me.
As they still not won us fully, we have a choice to fight back by spreading and reorganising our base religions of Saiva, Vaishnava, Budda, Jaina, Sakta. Also When we organise our base religions, we can come out from cost politics which is delebrately imposted on us by the Forigners and their slaves. (Muslims and Christians)
Also we can get the Minority rights, we can fight back the enemies. Also we can keep our country in peace and wealthy by organised personal relationships.

I'm sure you'll have no problem convincing 5 billion people, or however many, to switch religions...
Religion is completely unnecessary. Read The God Delusion... you'll never want to touch one again. email or IM me if you don't have a copy handy.

Absolutely. As soon as everyone is willing to accept the truth, then we will have one religion for all mankind.
(or as soon as everyone is willing to accept the lie)
