In the OT you get Ezekiel, Rachel, Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, and a host of other old names. Then, here comes the NT, and we get: Mary and Joe. And Mary's mom, Ann. Granted Jesus' name is still a bit odd, but his followers are Pete, Jim, John, Matt... you getting the picture? And notice: the ones who betray Jesus : Judas, Caiaphas, Annas. Hmm. Any thoughts?

The new testement is absolutely a rejection of the old jewish law and order. Jesus kind of styled himself as a rebel. He hated authority figures of any kind.

Heh, reading that again - sounds like most teens...

No, it was probably written in aramaic first then translate into greek which would account for the non-jewish names.

Even the Tanakh was traslated into greek which is called the Septuagint today.

Jesus was Jew, but He did not ask us to be Jews. He asked us to get baptized and to go and teach all the nations to obey His Word and baptize their people to have a new covenant. Freedom from religion.
