Green tea is an excellent anti-oxidant. Anti-oxidants help to cleanse the liver when taken with water.
You can increase your metabolism by being more active, taking B complex vitamins or eating products with cayenne pepper or spicy products.
Try Melaleuca vitamins.

Yes it is as a mater of fact a natural antioxidant and loaded with vitamins which yes do speed up metabolism slowly over time but none of that is bad for your liver it is an urban myth that green tea is bad for your liver.
Also some tips to speed up metabolism.
1) When you go to the store go to the yogurt section and look for the yogurt that says it promotes healthy metabolism on the label because it actually does help.
2) Instead of eating three big meals a day have six or seven smaller meals throughout the day.
3) WORKOUT!!! it is the best way to boost your metabolism the best workouts to help you burn food and speed up your metabolism are cardio like spinning swimming running you know along those lines.
Those three things combined will boost your metabolism healthily and keep you in great shape.

Green Tea is good for the liver, it helps clean out the system, it is very close to water. Just remember not to go overboard with the sugar, that's where it could be bad for the liver.
