yes, straight from the dead bird :
Emu oil comes from the rendered and refined fat of the emu bird. The emu is similar to an ostrich, a member of the ratite family. Most of the birds are raised in the US by emu farmers, and then sent to be rendered and refined. This type of farming is similar to cattle farming. One of the things we know about the emu is that they have wonderful immune systems. The emu can be close to death from injury and in a few days be good as new. It is this wonderful healing properties that they pass along through the emu oil. This is why the emu oil is good for so many things. Click here for a partial list of benefits.
I was told that emu oil is good for the skin, especially for eczema- I don't use it any more though as it is not kosher
Some alternatives you might try are :
Cod liver oil- taken orally- you can get the kind that is lemon flavored- very good for oyur organs, joints, skin, etc
crushed flax seed or flax seed oil taken orally- also good for overall health
for moisturizing- olive oil, almond, grape seed oils, mix with aloe and any essential oil that you like - I use vanilla or coconut I like the smell

Ingredients
Australian Emu Oil
Natural moisturizer which is easily absorbed into the skin making it an excellent transdermal carrier. High concentration of essential fatty acids (Omega-3, Omega-6) and low concentration of phospholipids is believed to be the reason for its skin pentrating ability.
Natural Retinol
An essential nutrient and antioxidant which is necessary for skin health. The body converts retinol into natural retinoic acid (vitamin A), which is beneficial for wrinkles and acne. Retin-A and Renova are synthetic analogs of retinoic acid.
Natural Vitamin E
Otherwise known as tocopherols, an essential nutrient and antioxidant commonly used as a natural preservative. Higher doses of natural vitamin E increase healthy cell production and are beneficial in the treatment of aging skin.
Ester-C
Vitamin C buffered with calcium so that it is more stable and non-acid. Vitamin C is an essential nutrient and antioxidant which in high enough concentration reduces wrinkles and rebuilds collagen in the skin. Ester-C is easily converted to vitamin C acid by the body.
Niacinamide
Otherwise known as vitamin B3 this essential nutrient increases ceramide and free fatty acid levels in the skin, helps the skin to retain water, and increases micro-circulation in the deep skin layers. Also reduces redness and sallowness and improves skin discoloration, increases elasticity of the skin, reduces wrinkles, and is a highly effective treatment for acne. Topical niacinamide creams are prescribed by dermatologists to treat acne.
Glutathione
Natural sulfur tripeptide and the body's most important antioxidant and main detoxifier. Has an anti-inflammatory affect, and is extremely effective against wrinkles, acne, scarring, age spots, and sun discoloration.
Carnosine
Natural dipeptide which protects proteins from glycation (a major factor in aging), increases cellular ability to remove damaged proteins, and also helps to recycle these damaged proteins. Carnosine is especially beneficial in improving tough, leathery skin.
Acetylcarnitine
Acetylized natural dipeptide and antioxidant which slows the affects of aging and increases cellular energy production. Due to its similar structure to acetylcholine, acetyl -L-carnitine may improve skin tone and firmness as well as brain and nerve function. Works well in combination with alpha lipoic acid to increase cellular production of glutathione and coenzyme Q10.
DMAE
DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol) is a natural substance which reduces and reverses facial sag (a prominent sign of aging) by tightening the skin, probably by fascilitating the rebuilding of cell membranes and increasing production of acetylcholine (which may firm and tone skin). Also reduces deposits of cellular waste inside cells, and extends the life of cells.
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Also known as ALA, a universal antioxidant which recycles vitamins E and C and helps to increase energy production and healing of cells, and prevents future cell damage. Reverses glycation of collagen (a major sign of aging, causing collagen to become stiff and inflexible). Turns on enzymes which digest damaged collagen, allowing scarred and wrinkled skin to be rebuilt. Decreases ruddiness of skin and minimizes pores, increases levels of glutathione.
Coenzyme Q10
Natural and powerful antioxidant similar in structure to vitamin K, which helps to organize collagen fibers. Improves the appearance of wrinkles and sun-damaged skin and protects it from further damage. Increases production of hyaluronic acid in the skin.
Green Tea Extract
This powerful natural antioxidant protects against skin cancer and sun damage, reduces wrinkles, and cleanses cells of toxins. When used on a regular basis can protect the skin from aging. Also antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory.
Grape Seed Extract
Potent natural antioxidant which aids in regenerating skin by greatly increasing the speed at which new skin and connective tissue (collagen) is formed. Also increases the regeneration of damaged blood vessels.
