Can anyone tell me if you belive in the prophet mohamed you are a muslim? and also do you stand by his views ie thats its ok to marry a girl of 9 years old ( not sure if this is true)

I am not religious but surely you cannot pick bits out of the a faith you`d have to agree with all the rules/cultures

9 years of age is still a minor and to have sex with a minor is totally wrong and anyone who does it should be hung.

look it does not matter how ppl dress it up.

Personally, I wouldn't care about the religion. If anyone tried to touch my daughter at the age of nine I'd be doing life for murder.

I certainly hope this girl was not nine when her so called marriage was consumated, but much older.

Certainly, in this day and age i would like to think that no normal person anywhere in the world would allow such a thing to happen.

You have to believe in one and only god.and that the last prophet was Muhammad. Peace be on Him. You also have to believe in all the previous prophets(Abraham, Moses, Jesus etc). About Muhammad marrying a 9 year old girl. This was over 1400 years ago and it was norm of the day. Lots of things that were OK years a go are unacceptable now a days,For example driving without a seat belt was OK in the 70's and 80's but today it is not. It is the same with this.

A rationale trying to explain why Mohammed married such a young girl is given in Sahih Muslim vol.2 footnote 1859 p.715. It says that "it was some exceptional circumstances that Hadrat ‘A’isha was married to the Prophet… The second point to be noted is that Islam has laid down no age limit for puberty for it varies with countries and races due to the climate, hereditary, physical and social conditions." They also mention support from the disreputable Kinsey report on Sexual Behaviour in the Human Female.

Mohammed himself once deliberately struck ‘Aisha "on the chest which caused me pain", according to Sahih Muslim vol.2 book 4 ch.352 no.2127 p.462.


There was other discord too. One incident, started by A’isha was so bad, Mohammed kept away from his wives for a month 29 days) Ibn-i-Majah vol.3 no.2060 p.241. Ibn-i-Majah vol.3 no.2063 p.243. This is the context of Sura 50:1.

no its not ok. it was normal then but it is not today.

it is reported that she was 9 or 10 at marriage. however she had reached puberty and marriages after puberty were common at that time by all people. anyone who says otherwise is either ignorant or lying. you dont have to like the fact that she was married so early you just need to understand it. what i cant understand is why this still happens in some parts of the world even today. the mullahs are not really scholars their beliefs are from their own opinions. some of them are the biggest hypocrites in the world and should not be seen as representatives of islam.

Believing that Mohammed was a prophet is important to being a Muslim, but the most important tenet is believing in One God.

A'isha was 6 years old at the time of her marriage, she was 9 when the marriage was consummated. She was 18 years old when Muhammed died.

She is one of the most respected women in Islam. Many of her teaching and traditions continue to teach Muslims to this day. Her voice is one of the most prominent in Islam, male or female.

It is hard to accept that she was married at so young an age, but Mohammed and A'isha loved each other and were good to each other.

Mohammed is reported to have said that "the best among you is the one who is best to his family and I am the best among you." I don't think that most men should not marry 9 year olds, but most men are not Mohammed.

Its possible that Muhammad took this girl as his wife but did not consumate the marriage until she was of a more mature state. From the Koran I gather that He had the utmost respect for the rights and the safety of others.

Before spreading rumours it is a good idea to get the facts. I don't know the facts of this matter but I've heard this question before and haven't as yet found anything to indicate that it is being quoted accurately. Most who bring it up are not well educated in Islam but instead just passing along a rumour designed to impune the character of another. That other happens to be a Prophet of God. What will you say as you stand before God on your day of Judgement?

I am not a Muslim but I believe the Muslims are my neighbors too. What did Jesus and Moses say about our neighbors? What is our obligation before the Almighty?

How about the Golden Rule? Or this: wish nothing for someone else that you would not want for yourself. Make peace, stop telling lies and you will find friends every where you go. As it should be.

In Islam it's okay to marry a girl once she is sexualy mature ie. puberty. Becomin mature as you know depends alot on the physical features of each person and many many other elements such as the climate they are living in the warmer it is the sooner. 1400 years before in Saudi Arabia well maybe the girls became sexually mature sooner even at 9 so thats why they said its okay to marry a 9 year old and not just any 9 year old but a girl who has fully developed you know what I mean.
