My mother was left handed
I am Right handed
My husband was Left handed but his parents made him always use his right hand so he is now both.
My point is..... NOW
My Daughter is left handed and I know this because when she was 1 1/2 she would pick toys up with her left hand. Then i would give her a pen and she would pick it up with her left hand and write with her left hand. My mther said Hun I think shes left handed like me and I said why do you think that and we noticed what I have just told you and so I put her to the test for one last finall analysis and I asked my daughter 3 times to grab out of my hand different items and every single time she would grab it with her left hand.

I have heard people who are left handed live longer and are smarter than right handed people.

I noticed around 9-12 months old that my three boys were all right handed. They'd hold the bottle with their right hand, grab for things with their right hand, ect.
We noticed my nephew was a southpaw when he was about the same age, 12 months or a bit sooner... He's the only person known in our family who's left handed.

my children are currently 9 and 7. but my 9 year old started using her left hand to write almost as soon as she learned to hold a pencil. we had a problem with a preschool teacher trying to get her to use her rite hand but we told her to let her use whatever hand she wanted. so at this age she uses her left to right and draw, etc. and uses her rite to eat, throw a ball, etc. on the other hand my 7 year old is a rite hander all the way. goes to show how different sibling really can be.

My two year old daughter is right handed. She started drawing when she was around 15 months, just scribbling. I would notice that even if she picked up the crayon with her left hand and begin to draw, she'd quickly switch over to her right hand. She did this every time with forks and spoons too. Now she uses her right hand like a pro.

My son is 3 almost 4 yo and he uses both hands equally. I am left handed and my husband is right handed. I noticed him using his left hand to throw things when he was about 18 mos but about the same time I also noticed him using his right hand for things like eating holding crayons etc...now he uses both

My son is 16 mos. old and right now i don't have a clue what hand he will be. He uses both hands for picking up stuff. I heard 1-10 babies born are left handed.

i'm ambidextrious but I was raised in school when they used to make everyone write right handed. They let kids use which ever hand comes naturally now.

I practice writing with both and my right handwritting is more legible, but had I not been forced to write right handed, I think I would have been left handed.

I think this is obvious - the dominate hand as soon as children pick up crayons or pens even as young as two.

I have two children one is left handed and the other is right handed. I discovered what hand they would when they started to feed themselves. I tried to get the one that was left-handed to use his right hand but he would just get frustrated(at 6 mos) and use the left, the one he still uses to this day(he is 13yrs old)

Keep an eye on the child. Watch their hands for anything that they grab. The way I was able to find out was giving them something to hold or to have them try and draw. Put 2 crayons- one in each hand and see what hand they use.
