First, I'm 16, male and from California, if that might be relevant.
Two days ago at around 8 PM when I got home I kept feeling a bit nauseous and like I had to throw up. It wasn't too bad and I just went to sleep.
Then I woke up at around 1:30 AM and it was feeling a lot worse, woke up my parents to go to the hospital and I threw up on the way. Anyway, they put me on an IV and all that, but when they let me go at like 7:30 they didn't really say what was wrong, just gave me some stuff to take if it happened again.

Anyway, since then I haven't felt hungry at all, I ate a bowl of soup just cuz I felp I should eat something. Now though, whenever I stand up my head starts hurting, I feel a sort of pressure above my stomach but below where my heart it, and I have a sharp pain on the right side of my stomach. I haven't thrown up, but I also haven't eaten much, and I have kept feeling nauseous. I also had to use the bathroom frequently, each time I had diarrhea.

I'm a pretty fit person, I play soccer and have no problem with any sort of athletics, if that rules anything out. I haven't really had any medical history, except slight asthma from alergies to pollen, and I've had stomach pains (no nausea thougj, and more of a sharp pain in the middle of my stomach) on and off for maybe 2 years.

I'm hesitant to go back to the doctor's though because they never tell me anything new (I was there several times for the previous stomach pains), and all they did this time was stab me a few times with an IV...

I will of course go back tomorrow if this continues, because I know something is really wrong. Does anyone though have any ideas about what it might be?

Thank you,

-David

First, make sure it's not Appendicitis:

Appendicitis can cause a variety of symptoms that may change over time. The most common early symptom is an aching pain around your navel that often shifts later to your lower right abdomen. As the inflammation in your appendix spreads to nearby tissues, especially the inner lining (peritoneum) of your abdomen, the pain may become sharper and more severe.

Eventually, the pain tends to settle in your lower right abdomen ¾ near your appendix at what's known as McBurney point. This point is about halfway between your navel and the top of your right pelvic bone. But the location of your pain may vary, depending on your age and the position of your appendix. Young children, especially, may have appendicitis pain in different places.

If you apply gentle pressure to the area that hurts, it will feel tender. As you release the pressure, especially if you do it suddenly, appendicitis pain often will feel worse (rebound tenderness). It will also tend to get worse if you cough, walk or make other jarring movements. This is particularly true if the inflamed appendix is touching the peritoneum — the silk-like membrane that lines the inner abdominal wall and enfolds the intestines. The pain may lessen somewhat if you lie on your side and pull your knees up toward your chest.

In addition to pain, you may have one or more of the following signs and symptoms:

Nausea and sometimes vomiting
Loss of appetite
A low-grade fever that starts after other signs and symptoms appear
Constipation
An inability to pass gas
Diarrhea
Abdominal swelling

this sounds like gastroenteritis, that is, sort of food poisoning. something u ate was not fresh, some milk or meat product commonly. the treatment for this is primarily fluid replacement-- oral fluids if there is no vomiting, and iv if person is unable to take fluids. if the infection seems too bad, the doctor will start u on antibiotics too.
but u have mentioned having it a couple of times before too, that needs some investigation- as to why are u getting infection repeatedly- where is the source. second thing, if this is gastroenteritis, the pain and pressure above stomach u r feeling maybe due to the irritation of food pipe with acidic fluids tht u vomited. some sort of otc chewable antacid should be helpful. also cold milk.
if there is a pain, especially right sided, repeatedly, and with vomiting, it can be gall bladder stone, and an ultrasound will rule it out. but in yr case since u have diarrhoea, i think u dont have stone.
if u are too ill with continuous diarrhoea n vomiting, dont hesitate to go to hospital.
take care what u eat.

You probably had a case of food poisoning. You are feeling a headache because you haven't eaten because of the food poisoning. Your body is trying to fight this infection and that is why you have the diarrhea. They probably gave you antibiotics in the hospital and told you to drink lots of fluid. Check your temperature and make sure you don't have fever. If your eyes get jaundice (yellow sclera) go back to the doctor because you might have some form of hepatitis (but I doubt it ). So just drink lots of fluid and eat lightly until you feel better. It will soon be over!!!

Sounds like you may have gastroenteritis. It is an inflammation of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract. You need to stay away from anything to eat, other than clear liquids for 12 hours, then gradually start to eat things like chicken broth or jello. And see if symptoms go away, if you have problems still, then see a doctor immediately, you could have E-Coli or food poisioning that is not going away.

You could be suffering from a stomach ulcer since this has been going on for a while now. Change doctors if they don't tell you much.
Does milk, malox or something to "coat" your stomach seem to help the discomfort/nausea?
