Self-education?

I want to further my education on my own time, as my school isn't going to be much help in that field. I'm 15 and I go to a West Virginian public school. It's not that terrible, but it's very mediocre. They'll only teach me enough for me to barely get by in life. Anyway, I was hoping for some suggestions. Basicly, what can I do to make myself smarter?

Take dual-enrollment classes at your community college, read books that will prepare you for college courses you want to take, see if Virginia has a virtual high school where you can take class online.
