I'm a 22-year-old girl who's suffered from chronic guttate psoriasis/strep throat infections my entire life. In spite of the skin condition, I have no trouble with physical activity or staying generally healthy. I'm curious as to whether the Army would take me because of this health issue if I was to enlist. How healthy, exactly, are you supposed to be? Would I be automatically discounted because of this condition?

It is according how bad it is ,if it bothers you and is noticeable probably not.But I'll tell you a little secret,if your hell bent on getting in,go join the National Guard their physical is much easier. Then after boot camp tell them you want to go active they will just make you sign some paper work and poof your in.

The only way is to go and talk to a recruiter and they can call the MEPS doctor and submit your paperwork as to your conditions and there is the possibility that you could get a medical waiver to enlist in the miitary. Just Remember, it doesn't harm anyone to go and ask. If you don't ask then you will never know.

Skin disease is not a problem when entering the military. What is needed is physical and intellectual capability to become a soldier. Thus, you can be accepted by the Army.

Different branches have different rules. You could get a waiver for your condition. The doc who does your physical will make that determination.

An old ship mate of mine had BAD acne. It seemed to have escalated after he joined. He got out then decided to go back in but due to the seriousness of his acne (in particular, on his back) they wouldn't let him back in. Ask a recruiter to check it out for you.
