No! in the end we amount to the glory of the universe, and our purpose is to live this life and simply experience what the creator
wanted us to experience.

To paraphrase one of my old answers, no one I know or have heard of knows. Yes, that means the Church, Tao, Buddism, Islam, Scientology, mysticism, Wicca, Crowley, whatever.
More importantly, if you knew why you were here, if someone told you why you were here, would you be happy? What if your reason for being isn't a one from a greeting card? What if an angel told you that you were here on Earth to be a drunk-driving accident victim, a paraplegic, whose struggles to remain dignified and relevant would inspire some guy to be the 2010 American Idol winner? Or maybe your Secret Spirit Guardian tells you that you are here to make your family upset all the time with your childish antics. Or maybe God will tell you you are just here to die. Period. How do you like them apples?
Really...there is no "Why am I here?" beyond, "My parents had sex, so now I'm here."
And yes, if there is an end, you and everything else in this universe will amount to nothing. If at some future point in time it's all over for everything, how could there be anything besides "nothing" after that point?
"What's it all for?" Come on, do you even know what you mean by "all"!?! Sorry, but this is not a question with an answer. You just want someone to cheer you up by telling you that you DO amount to something. I do hope you find your warm fuzzy.

What can you do in this lifetime to serve humanity? How can you utilize the powers of kindness and compassion to cause a ripple effect of peace and love throughout the world? In the end you are your own perspective of yourself. Whether or not something comes after is impossible to discern. Who or what created us is simply a cause for argument. Have you ever done something unselfishly just to help another? I bet you have. If so, you've already amounted to something.
What we do with what we are sure of, this earth and its people, will matter most to ourselves (and others) in the end, regardless of what does or doesn't come after. This journey alone is an incredible one.

42 (the answer to life, the universe and everything else, now if we could just figure out the question)
In all seriousness, I highly doubt that we will truly know the answer to that question until we get there. It's like going to Disney land. You can see all the pictures, but until you get there, you don't really know what it is like.
All we can do is make the best of the hand we are given and try to make the most positive impact we can on the world while we are here.

Our job here is to gain as many exquisite memories as possible in our life time. When we die, we find ourselves facing an entity that wants to "feed" on our collected memories. If you do a good job as a memory collector, you are rewarded with another life , with upgraded "powers" that will help you create even better ones in that lifetime. The better memories you offer the entity, the better placement you will get the next time. If you are attempting to be a Man of Power, or Knowledge, You can ask to keep your memories for the next life, as this will give you more Power and knowledge in the next life, You Have to have the wherewithal to be able to ask for it, tho. This is "the eagles gift".

One of my favorite quotes of all time, something I remind myself of almost every day, comes from Buddhist teachings
"Life is not a question to be answered, but a reality to be experienced."
Although we can all get in those dark places where everything seems meaningless, I find no one really asks this question when they are happy. My personal opinion is that it's not worth worrying about, and really, it doesn't matter. If this life is all we get, then that should make you want to live it that much more. I mean, do you eat an apple to produce a core, or to enjoy the apple?

No we do not amount to nothing in the end. we are joint heirs wiht Jesus Christ to the throne of God. We were created to show God's love, and to win souls for Christ. In the end we will be greatly rewarded for doning what God has called us to do, and having a relationship with our creator.

God created us to have fellowship with us and to have us to love. He created man perfect and he was ruler of the earth, but he was made imperfect as he disobeyed God and fell from grace and he was no longer perfect and by his sin was separated from God. Through the seed of the first man of our kind from Adam he passed on the curse to us so we are all born sinners. God loved us so much that he wanted to save us from judgement for our sins so he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to be made into flesh and blood as us, so he would be offered as a sacrifice for our sins, and so when he died on the cross he made a way for us to be with God again and our sins can be forgiven and washed away with his blood and we can be perfect by excepting Jesus as savior and repenting. By doing his work he annulled satan's power of death over mankind and made us free by choice. the righteous will all soon be with the Lord God and inherit the earth forever where there is no sin and rebellion.

God made us in His image, out of all creation, and that is nothing to take lightly. He could have created a race of puppets to obey him the way machines obey us. But He made us to be so much more. He gave us free will and then challenged us to come to him of our own accord. Our task in this life is to grow more and more into His image, to remake ourselves, through the Holy Spirit, into as nearly Christlike a being as we can. I think God wanted us to be His companions in Heaven.
