You should double check on the government's travel site, but you need a passport to go anywhere except the United States and any of its territories. I think - not sure - that you can go to the US virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Guam and some other obscure island without a passport. But double check that! You might as well get one since they're not that expensive, are good for 10 years, and are an accepted form of ID worldwide.

A Passport is not required for domestic travel. Anyone over the age of 18 does require a valid state-issued photo ID (such as a drivers license)

not within the United States...but outside...including the Vir Is, and Bahamas - Carribean. Use to be you could take a cruise and not need a passport...now it is required. Plus some countries require visas for extended stay.

No... and that includes flying outside the country to another U.S. territory too (like Puerto Rico), by the way - no passport required for that for U.S. citizens. Valid government ID is still required of course though.

if you are an american then no....if not it is always best to have it handy. Since you did have a passport to get in here right?

You must have a pic id, dna sample, and complete set of dental records handy just incase you are picked out for further screening.
