If it's on the stomach, it can't be an egg - that is, if it's protruding from the front. Eggs will 'show' by the vent, so you'll know it's an egg, near and behind the pelvis.
Maybe I'm just interpreting your wording improperly, but I don't think it's an egg. What I do think it may be is a tumour. Budgies are known to be 'fatty tumour machines'. I'm not sure why, exactly, but MANY budgies will wind up with a fatty tumour or worst case scenario, will die from one or more. I would see a vet ASAP before it's too late to have something done about it. (PS - diet also affects this greatly. If your budgie is on a high-fat diet - all or mostly seeds and/or nuts, the risks are MUCH higher than with a pellet-based balanced diet)

Hi there. It takes about 3 weeks for a female parakeet to form an egg to expel it. See if you can remember when you noticed this. Also it is possible that your keet may be overweight. It's hard to tell with just visualization. All seed diets are fattening and do lead to malnutrition and early demise. Pellet food with 10%seeds, 10%fruit and veggies works pretty well. There is no standard yet. Roudybush will give you a free sample:1-800-326-1726. If egg laying even infertile, this takes a lot of energy and more protein and calcium so add hard cooked egg with the shell crumbled. Be sure she sleeps with10-12 hours a day. More light tends to trigger more eggs. Her eyes may be irritated. Flush them with normal saline twice a day. If discharge or matting occurs, it is conjunctivitis (pink eye) and an antibiotic ointment made for the eyes needs to be given twice a day. Wash your hands before and after really well. Have a nice day and I bet she will get better soon.

Bonsylar is right, if you suspect this is an egg, she needs to go the vet NOW. There may be a reason she can not pass it, usually is due to a calcium defiency that is diet related. This is considered a life threatening emergency in the avian medical community. Remember that birds stress really easy, and since they are prey animals their bodies are designed to hide all signs of illness until they are no longer able, meaning when you first notice your bird is sick, its probably been sick for a while. Dont wait till she starts acting sick, take her now, it may make all the difference in her chances of recovery

Never had red eyelids on a Parakeet! Is she an Albino with pink around the eye? The "mass" might be releaved by a drop of mineral oil in her vent and hold a distance above some warm steam from a kettle to relax the muscles. Then just put her in a cage with a small lamp with a 60w. bulb next to it and cover with a towel to keep the heat in the cage. Good luck!

Don't fret, if you try my advice it might be better :) First of all, handfeeding your budgies are a good start. Place a treat they like in your hand and put your hand in the cage. Don't move when they fly over to eat. Try this everyday and maybe it'll work! If that doesn't work for you, try this: Put your hand in their cage and just leave it there, and be very quiet. Or sometime during the day, try talking to your budgies in a calm, soothing voice. They'll soon get used to you sitting by their cage, and soon will let you touch them! I suggest you to seperate the budgies if you want to tame them. It might be harder to tame if they are in the same cage. Put on in another cage, and tame both of them at different times. But it will help if you always tame them on a certain time. Another thing is-this maybe tiring, but do these things everyday for 20minutes. If one method works better than the others, try that one the most! Soon you'll have a lovely pair of budgies(I hope!). Oh, right- another thing is: try placing your hand ON the cage, but don't move. They'll get used to the "hand". Hope this worked for you, and good luck taming your budgies!

GET TO THE VET NOW!!!!!!!! yur budgie is egg bound, meaning that the egg is stuck inside her. THe vet needs to perform a surgery to get it safely out. If this has only happened within the past half hur, drip warm salad oil around the area and wait two hours. If its been bound longer than that, see vet ASAP.ALso, the red eyes are a symptom that the egg is already causing other problems..

I have seen this both in my own pets and at the Vet clinic where I used to work.
It's an emergency. Birds only have one exit. The egg is blocking it. It needs to be surgically removed before the blockage starts damaging the kidneys and other organs.
You need to go NOW to the vet.
