You are asking about a HOME PHONE. The best bet is CANCEL your long distance carrier, and use a calling card. I use AT&T calling card, that comes out to around 3 cents a minute. Most of the plans have a monthly fee, and long distance for most carriers like Verizon, AT&T, etc., are getting 10 to 20 cents a minute without any 'special' plan.!! In my area, AT&T long distance was getting over $4.00 a month, even if I made NO long distance calls!!!

You did not say what country you are at.
In the US, you could do away with the home phone and then get the Cricket or Pocket phone which are good for local use. In San Antonio, Texas, it is $25 a month for UNLIMITED minutes or talk time, so you can call long distance 24/7 locally. Then for $37 you add caller ID, call waiting, UNLIMITED TEXT, internet access, and one or two more items. But prices vary on region of US.

I even have Verizon infinite calling, that's composed of community provider, call waiting, caller identity, etc., and infinite long distance 24/7, which costs $sixty 9 a month. We also have a telephone extensive style the place all of the people interior the metro section can call us without paying a toll charge--that used to matter.
