It earns money for the vendor/manufacturer.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. The Atkins diet really sheds the pounds fast!!!....But....before u get too excited, there are some things to know. My wife did the diet bout 5 years ago. She is not a patient person, which is why she tried this out. It worked like gangbusters, but let me tell you. the downside of this is that she loves carbs. After a while you'll find you'd kill for some real sugar or a piece of bread, roll, biscuit, etc. It gets to where u have a hard time thinking you'll do without the rest of your life.
Try the Dr.Phil diet plan. It has been so much easier to stick to and it teaches you not just how to eat, but how to change your lifesstyle to maintain a healthy diet. By the way, my wife had her gall bladder removed due to gall stones. The doctor told her that losing too much weight too fast is a major contributor to this problem.

Here's a a great book: You on a Diet. It is written by two doctors. The educate you about the entire digestive system and exactly what you should and should not do in order to be healthy. It is easy to understand and it really changed my outlook on the whole "diet" thing. Atkins is horrible - you should never eliminate a whole food group - you will end up bingeing later. You will also gain all of the weight you lose once you reintroduce the foods. You have to make a committed lifestyle change and that book I mentioned will explain why.

Good luck

yes and its definatley not good for weightlifters or anyone in physical sports. Carbs are used for linking the protien to muscle fibers for protien synthesis to take place. Dr Atkins also died at 270lbs from heart failure. South beach diet is more reasonable eat in moderation with some exercise. If you cut carbs so strick your body eventually doesn't know what to do with them when you get back on a regular diet too so it actually wants to store the new carbs. Kinda like slowing the metabolism. Not to mention carb crashing where your body goes into a sugar rampage and usually you end up cheating making things worse anyway.

Yes, Atkins does result in weight loss. However, check into the liver damage and kidney damage caused by this diet. Also increased risk of heart disease (meat eaters have a higher risk), and oesteoporosis. The higher your diet is in protein, the more your body leachs calcium from your bones in an effort to stabilize the blood.

The best weight loss plan is just to reduce the amount that you eat. Doesn't have to be a whole bunch, just some.

the atkins is a diet that try to limit your intake of food that is rich in carbohydrates (carbs) carbs are the main source of energy (though there are other sources like sucrose) it is based on the well known biological fact that when your body doesnt use the carbs it takes the left over and stores it into fat for later use. however carbs are like i said your main source of energy(prepare to feel tired and sluggish the whole day without them) and most food that contains carbs are also vitamin rich these help you throughout the day for your body to go through its basic functions. its a good diet you will most likely loss a lot of weight fast but if you do not continue this lifestly it may be hard to keep it off if you still have questions i would speak to a professional dietation

I did this diet with my mom and in order to be on this diet you have to be really motivated 'cause if you're not you won't last. It's basically a protein diet that lasts for 90 days and you can't eat cheese, yogurt or milk or any dairy products and you get one cheat day out of every week. You drink water and diet drinks and meals are all about protein. Good luck
