Political Assylum should always be a Priority Status and in fast forward mode to save lives and every help available should be given. This is exactly why people are screaming about illegal aliens taking advantage of the situation and Americans. They jump the line making it almost impossible for others who have obeyed the laws to come here legally.

i'm not sure...it depends on our goals as a country. do we want to help people who need it? or do we want to strengthen the US by diversifying our population? if it's the 2nd, than i guess we should go for countries with low immigration rates. maybe those are war torn, maybe not. if it's the 1st, ....well, i don't know how i feel about it. some countries going through war right now, i'll admit that i'm a little afraid because their beliefs and value systems are completely different than what we all accept here in the US. i admit that it's mostly an unknown for me...maybe if i knew more i wouldn't be so nervous...but right now i'm not really excited about those countries immigrating. with mexico, at least we know what we are getting. but like i said...i'm undecided, not trying to be mean or hateful towards another group...

It depends on what you mean by fair because everyone has a different definition.
Many immigrants today in the US are Mexican simply because Mexico is close to the US, so it's a matter of low transport costs. Also the wages in US are on average about ten times higher than wages in Mexico, which adds further economic pressure to migrate.

You are comparing apples and oranges...The rules for political asylum are not the same as immigration rules.
