Jesus said, "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." In today's world Christians have life a little too easy. Historically when Christians are being persecuted and martyred they can't wait to get to heaven. But in a tolerant affluent society such as ours the time comes for the boat to sail and we find ourselves with one foot on the boat and the other on the dock.

Christians have eternal life that starts in the present world. They also have work to do in this world, and they believe that God has a purpose for their time here.
The apostle Paul wrestled with this question, and realized that his life benefitted others, so that even though he knew things were better in heaven, he stayed to serve here. When his work was finished, he went on to the next life.

Oh true Christians are in a hurry, but they realize their time is when God wants them. Therefore, they must wait patiently and "store up their rewards in heaven." They wait eagerly for the LORD, longing to be with Him, and trying to live their lives as if He was there and grow in their knowledge and love for Christ.

Even the mortal flesh of Jesus asked to be relieved of the obligation... The flesh of the rest of us is even weaker... it is not death that we fear it is the process....also... all those of The True Christian Faith long for Heaven... but we are not permitted to hurry up the process.

because heaven isnt the ultimate goal.
the resurrection and life eternal is.
although it is written, that if many people saw the lowest levels of heave they would commit suicide to get in. However such people would be highly disappointed because heaven is for those that are worthy and repentant, you cant repent from suicide, those who do this will end up in a place of despair and a barren waste land.

Because they have become so wicked an corrupt that they beg for their lives:
"No man has power over the wind to contain it; so no one has power over the day of his death. As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practise it."
Especially those who use the church and hide behind the church as an excuse to ruin peoples' lives like my own!!

God put into us a built in survival mechanism as with all life. Life is good and we like the company and don't want to leave it some times wouldn't ya think? We're patient. Life is good, eternity is better.

Excellent question, however if you kill yourself, instead of getting 72 virgins, Christians beleive you will be trapped in painful fire for eternity. There are very few real Christians, and good reason for it. The rest of us don't really beleive in that jagon.
