I am in my early twenties and I just had an idea to train and run a half-marathon that is in 56 days. I like to run, but I have not had time to run or get in shape/tone up yet. But if I start this weekend, would it be possible to be able to compete in the half-marathon and survive? Side note- I am not overweight - so I would just be working on getting back into shape and not so much losing weight. Also, I work full time - so I will have to deal with not being able to fully focus on traing 24/7. However, I would try and make it priority. Let me know if this is possible (specifically from those who have professional knowledge in this area). Thanks!

It's finishing it that counts. If it's your first time, it doesn't matter how fast you run. Just sign up and do it. In my first Half marathon, mile 10 was hard, but mile 12 and mile 13 were the most difficult. After I crossed the finish line, I didn't feel tire at all.

U have gone out of shape because u r overweight and not any other count.

Practice can achieve almost any thing.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. No food or drink in between the food and not more than three meals a day, unless u r diabetic.

If you were a runner and it's just been awhile since you've ran last, then yes, you can do it. I didn't run for two years, woke up and ran a half marathon without stopping.

If you were not a prior runner, then you are taking on a lot and I would shoot for a 10K which they often have in conjunction with the half
