THAT'S REALLY WHAT IT'S LIKE BEING AN ATHEIS

If that's what it's like, then the main problem you have is that you're trying to "wake people up" who don't want to be. It seems that you have some need to "make people see the truth", when, to them, their position is just as valid as yours.

Truth is that neither side has absolute proof. Those of faith have sometimes had their faith tested, and feel it well founded. You have your beliefs and believe them well founded as well.

Some of faith preach to strengthen their faith. Perhaps they feel it weak, and speaking out gives it substance. Perhaps it's the same for some atheists... they have doubts and speaking out gives them reassurance. That's only human.

The problem isn't atheism or deism. The problem is those who feel they need to educate or change the others. Perhaps the best environment is one of diversity, tolerance and acceptance.

Ok, God is a lot different than the tooth fairy.

1.) The bible never says people in other religions are fools.
2.)The tooth fairy gives you money for teeth, Jesus died for man.
3.)The bible is the bible, theres only one book(Made into copies of course.)
4.)I would rather listen to God then listen to ignorrant scientists.
5.)Teeth and heart are also a lot different.
6.)teeth and life are also different.
Seeing as an athiest doesn't know the real purpose of life, and will most likely not make it to heaven, I would hate being an athiest.

No, I can not imagine being an atheist; but I lived with a man for a long time that is an atheist. That man is my dad. He was an engineer, highly educated.......so people said. I listened to years of what he believed to be not true and true. Now, he is a very old man. This old man isn't so sure he knows as much as he thought he knew. It is interesting how people discover so much about life when physical death draws near. No, I can not imagine being an atheist.

11. People attempt to convert others by pointing to the unexplained and mysterious, like the recorded disappearance of thousands teeth from under a pillow without the waking of the sleeper.

12. Imagine people telling you that belief in the tooth fairy is a safe bet because otherwise the easter bunny might just might kick the **** out of you some day if you don't.

Imagine for just a minute that you might be wrong.

Imagine that you are open-minded enough to consider other views than your own.

Imagine that you have enough respect for others not to insult their beliefs.

Imagine that other people have emotions that can be hurt by thoughtless words.

Imagine that you are tolerant, compassionate, and able to let go of whatever your hang-up about religion is.

How're you coming along with that? Too tough?

Yep. That's the world I live in.

To KSKWWJD: My father is also an old man, and an atheist. He just had a bad stroke, but has never once expressed any uneasiness about his "religious" position. So, you see, maybe it works both ways.

So, if you can't beat 'em why not join 'em? People are incurably religious. Atheists are made, not born. Doesn't this suggest that we are created for fellowship with some higher being?
