In your opinion why does it appear that American Christianity has become the love child of Capitalism, individualism and greed. I have purused the ghettos of Christian television and have become appalled at the heresy.

Prosperity Preachers like Creflo Dollar, Jamal Bryant, Keneth Hagin, Oral Roberts and Fred Price and etc depict God as a grand slot machine; If you tithe to the church GOD will bless you with a Benz, Bentley, new house, car and more bling bling.

It seems that the thesis of there message is that to have those things are a sign of divine blessings and favor. DOES THIS POP-CULTURAL MESS BOTHER ANYONE BUT ME??????

Does it even bother anyone that these beautiful celebraty preachers who dress like characters on soap operas are not even smart and do not have earned accredidated degrees? Can't congregants make a case to sue them for spiritual malpractice? I think the gospel that they preach is the equavelant of spiritual homocide. (murdering the spiritually weak)

There are Hypocrites in all walks of life. I follow the Book alone and do not need someone who spent their time in school to talk the Bible over with. I have family and friends that I speak and consult with(we all do back and forth)
God's name has a HUGE price tag on it, and all you have to do is put His name on it and it will sell

I agree with you 100%!
I believe that these preachers that preach prosperity are hurting the body of Christ!
A Christian needs to be in a Church or have a Church visit them if they are too weak or ill to attend. A Christian should be faithful to their Church and leave the tv preachers alone. If every Christian who sends these preachers money would stop and support their local church than these men would go off the air and would not be able to fleece anyone ever again!

Heh, interesting isn't it? The Republican Party started as a "big tent" between two generally uninterested parties: (1) corporate corruption and (2) Evangelicals.

Both 1 and 2 made a deal with the devil, so to speak, to take over the country. Corporate America got a tax break, and Evangelicals got a few Supreme Court nominees.

And the American people lost. Now, you can hardly tell the difference between Evangelicals, corporate execs, and the GOP.

Proverbs 3:9-10 is a promise to us from God Almighty.
"Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine."

Malachi 3:10 also says:
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says God Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

There are other scriptures as well, that promise us Gods supernatural blessings when we obey His command to tithe.

I suggest you look them up and you will notice that God makes a "Promise" to everyone who tithes 10%
Based on scripture, I would say it is Godly teaching.
If you consider scripture to be the Word of God Almighty
How can you say this teaching is equivalent to spiritual homicide?
If we are to preach Gods Holy Word in truth, we must present it as God has directed us to. Test all teachings and compare them to Gods Word. I believe His Word is very clear on this subject.
I believe the teaching is scriptural truth.

Is it any more appalling than a Pop or Modern artist applying for and getting a $40,000 grant from the Gugenheime to make a table setting and call it art.

A $200 used table. Some used dishes. Then you call it art and pocked the $39,700 that's left from your grant money.

I saw JUST such a work of "art" at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in their Modern wing.

It bothers me too. Especially as a Christian, it disgusts me. God cannot be happy about it either. Unfortunately, it's what people want to hear. The message of "In this world you will have tributation (John 16:32) is not a popular one. I don't watch that stuff because of the mixture of Christianity with the world.

It bothers every Christian that I have ever met. I was raised in the same denomination and religious tradition as the idiots that you just mentioned. My grandfather, two uncles and an aunt were preachers, as was my wife's father and one of her uncles. I attended Christian school for three years. So far, I have yet to meet a Christian who does not absolutely hate every televangelist that you just mentioned.

Good point. That's what happens when people pervert Christianity for their own gain. It's digusting.

That's how to spot a false Christian. When they love money, and don't focus on charity and volunteering, they're taking their salvation for granted. They tend to be the "once saved always saved" kind of Christian who don't feel like their faith is something that requires effort and mindfulness.

ya, i have noticed that when ive watched some of those tv shows. and it is a good idea to tithe and give to others less fortunate, however, u shouldnt do it just to get the reward. i think that theres some verse(s) in the Bible about that. like God knowing whats in ur heart and your motives in giving. ive pretty much stopped watching most tv programs on Christianity, because all of them seem to be annoying, hyped up, fake, and just overratted.

They are the purveyors of Believers' Lotto. If you are faithful enough with both tithe and time, God will reward you. Just keep plunking those $100 bills in the collection plate. It will pay off eventually.
