I am a female & am asked about it when I wear short sleeves. I don't really want to blacken it with a tatoo (this will draw attent.)
I feel it would be to invasive. I would rather have a less noticeable scar.

I am a female & feel that if I tatoo the upper arm I will draw MORE attention to the area. I don't want that. The scar is about a 1/2" wide to 8" in length then veers off to the elbow another 4". Is there some (unconnected tattoo, with no connectible lines?) I don't know...

Tattooing on a scar is a question you need to ask the artist you choose to do the work. He'll let you know what he/she thinks of the idea. Branding or adding to the scar are both something I personally don't care for, but that's just me.
I guess the most important thing is what's safe and won't create problems for you later. Do you want to hide or disguise the scar?
There is plastic surgery techniques that can lessen the appearance of scar tissue too. It depends on what you want, and how much you're willing to spend.

If it makes you self-concious then a tattoo would be your best bet to cover it up. It NEEDS to be something you will like forever because it is a lot more permanent than a scar. Also you need to consult several different tattoo artists to see if it is even possible to tattoo the area, sometimes scar tissue does not hold ink and it would be a waste of time and money.
There are also cream you can use to reduce the appearance of the scar. Take a stroll through the pharmacy department of your local store to find one that can help.

depends on if you want to draw attention to it or not. If you want to draw attention: tattoo it. Maybe you could just have the artist write, "ask me what happened" and draw a little arrow. Otherwise, if you want to hide it/ make it blend in reasonably well like normal skin with art work, you should either brand or scar a picture on it. With branding the scar will be more noticeable than with scarring...mostly because the burn has a different effect on the skin and causes the skin to heal differently than scarring. scarring will work well depending on the kind of scar -- if it 's akeloid scar and depending on the design and direction that your scar runs in. Seriously though, if you're trying to hide it, there are medical options if you ask your dermatologist. They can make it look nearly invisible. Good luck whatever you choose!

you can absolutely get a tattoo to cover the scar but a tattoo will definitely draw more attention to the area but it won't be "oh, what happened to your arm?" it will be more "oh, that's a beautiful tattoo" (if you have a good design and a great artist) also i wouldn't suggest getting something that is all black (you said something about blackening it) there are some very feminine designs that could be beautiful running the length of an arm. check out my tattoo artist's websites and see some of the great work he has done.

You can have laser surgery done to reduce the scar. Then decide if you want a tattoo. I think it would be kind of hard to tattoo a scar. Since it's so thick and hard. I would check into a laser procedure if i were you.

My husband has a huge knarly scar that runs super thick and long up his arm. He is EXTREAMLY self consious about it and I have to tell you.....I find it DAM sexy! Don't know why. Just do. I would not find it as sexy as a tatooed scar, or a branded scar, or a picture scar. I say leave it and own it ...

Something that is going to be on you for the rest of your life really should not be decided from someone you don't even know off the internet.
You should really think about what you are putting over the scar, and if you'll still like it in 50 years...

yea sometimes scars are sexy... but i would say, if you must do one of the following, a tattoo would look the best, and not draw more weird attention to yourself,
