I was thinking about getting a rook piercing tomorrow. But, right now I'm swimming in gym, could my piercing get infected? My gym teacher says that chlorine is good for cleaning out piercings, and he said that it wouldn't get infected. But, I'm not sure if he is correct, I've read a couple other places the same thing, but the majority of people say that you should avoid swimming until the piercing is healed.

Should I wait to get my piercing, or should I be fine?

HA! hey! i justy got my rook pierced last week! i also asked abotu swiming since i love swimming at the gym as well! a piercer who talk to oh here occasionaly said you soudl wait abotu 2 weeks. bt after you do swim after you get out do a sea salt soak. and NO chlorine isnt good for piercings. it is a strong chemical that will dry otu and irritate the piercing. its safe to swim. i think you shoudl just avoid the swim cap and look out for where you put the googles. but just do a sea salt soak rigth after you get out or get home and you should be fine. but chloine isnt that great for new piercings. but if you follow the aftercare properly it will be fine!> but i absolutely love my rook piercing! i got a curve barbell since they are easier to heal (even though i dont like how it looks) but it didnt hurt as bad as i was intending it to. but you will be fine if you foloow the aftercare they give you. sea salt soaks are the most important thing. oh and anti bacterial soap as well! but i love my rook piericng! im sure you can sacrifice a week or two without swimming =)

i became making plans on getting my rook pierced this week too and that i carry out a little aggressive swimming yet i'm a lifeguard additionally so I could swim lots. the only female became top approximately wearing a cap over it, which could have the ability to cover it besides the shown fact that it additionally would desire to aggravate it. there have been some lifeguards that have been given their tragus pierced final summer time and it did no longer get contaminated from the water or something which became sturdy. in case you could, rather of taking it out all of the time, attempt to discover a sparkling rings to cover it, or extra appropriate yet purely sparkling balls except that's a ring, then attempt to discover like a sparkling stud so which you do no longer could save taking it out and in all of the time.

This should be thought of a a risk. Even with chlorine, a pool will be fine one day and nasty the next. Only if the water is tested daily for bacteria and treated daily, will you be safe. Even then it is still a risk.

You have to use your judgement and take your chances.

If the pool is tested and maintained well you should be OK - but there is always a risk. Is it worth it? To be sure - you might want to stay dry until your healed.

YES it can get infected.

if you get the piercing, stay away from the pool and your gym teacher because he sounds like an idiot.
