the answer above is correct, the ears are naturally fairly big and if you don't want to crop them you might have to splint them to get them to stand straight. Don't expect them to start to stand until at least 9 weeks more likely 3-4 months.

The nipping just needs to be firmly corrected each and everytime. Also, flip him/her over on her back and hold her there. It sounds like the beginning of a dominance issue, nip it in the bud immediately and you'll be just fine.

Good Luck!

Min Pin ears may or may not stand up on their own, but even is they do it does not look like the standard of the AKC. The breed characteristic of the upright ears are usually done through ear cropping, which is an expensive and major surgery procedure. As for the biting problem I usually try to grab the scruff area of the back of the neck (surprising, but not hurting the dog) and yelling "NO!" very loudly. Usually the puppy will outgrow the behavior with multiple and strict disciplining.

the prior answer is incorrect. They do not need to be cropped to stand. Many will stand on their own naturally. To achieve AKC breed standard they require them to be cropped but even then there is no guarantee that they will stand. I have been breeding for over 40 years and though AKC has not removed the cropped rule, in Europe and Australia it is illegal to crop. At this point the last I heard also in CA. In Europe the Pin is shown with natural standing ears. There are Eupopean breeders who are now concentrating on breeding for natural ear stand. Though not totally sucessful do to genetics they are getting more with new litters.
