I look at it this way--atheists simply believe there is no God. They can't prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that God doesn't exist, but they choose not to believe that any god or gods exist, Christian or otherwise. Atheism is a belief system, as its core, the rejection of the idea of the existence of any god, is essentially unprovable. I suppose this makes them neither more nor less plausible than any theistic religion, as one cannot prove absolutely the existence of any god by any means I know of. One can simply choose to believe or not to believe.

I firmly believe that many, if not most, agnostics are actually closet atheists and NOT the other way around.

I say that because I once was there myself. You really don't believe in God or the possibility of his existence, but you sit the fence just in case. After awhile, I realized it was just like that stage I went through as a kid where I didn't really believe the whole Santa thing but didn't say anything for fear of not getting presents.

It's like Studs Terkel said: "An agnostic is a gutless atheist"

God is capitalized dude!
Satan will devour the ungodly and deceit is his specialty. People just walk into his trap eyes wide open. It may not seem fair but we all get a fair choice. Not understanding or not knowing is one thing to deal with but just denying God is fatal. The weak will deny God because it doesn't take a fight or effort.

For me it didn't happen overnight....it was a process that happened over 5 years.

I just could no longer convince myself there was a God or a Higher Power...it didn't make sense to me.

The same way someone can decide to accept that there IS a God.

Atheism is the only intelligent, logical, and reasonable conclusion after reading and studying the bible. It amazes me how anyone else could also read the bible and not come away with the same conclusion, the bible is nothing more than christian mythology.

It is less incredible for someone to take a stance as a total non-believer than for someone to have no doubts that there IS a god.

Allah just seems silly to me.
I just don't get Ahura Mazda.
Shiva leaves me confused.
Jesus makes no sense to me.

My guess is, you agree with me on all these statements but one.

I've never believed in such things, it's not real to me...why wouldn't I be who I am?
