yes ask the stylist for a "body wave", also they usualy use the purple or orange rods for the body waves, anything larget wont give a nice wave and anything smaller will be a tight perm. i have done many of these on younger clients.

Depending on the length of you hair, YES you can get body NOT curl. You have to remember you hair need to be long enough to put a larger perm rod in it to get only body. There are so many different ways the stylist can wrap the perm also to ensure you only get wave you should have no problem. Just remember that a picture is worth 1000 words and find the amount od wave you would like in picture form and then TALK to a stylist first. If you feel comfortable with what they are saying to you, go for it, if not, find another stylist. Also remember that a wavy, lose perm will not last very long, but that should be OK because you do NOT want to look too curly. You could also ask the stylist if they know what a "texture product" is, this is a new line of perms and wrapping techniques brought out by Matrix and they are some of the most beautiful hairstyles I have seen in years. Yes. The size of the curl depends on the size of the perm rod used. The bigger the rod, the looser the curl; the smaller the rod, the tighter the curl.
For a wavy look, the stylist will use large rods.

Yes, you sure can, it is called a body perm or body wave...look for a wave perm solution
I have done these myself with a kit and large perm rods and it came out surprisingly good! The key is rolling it up properly and the solution is "idiot proof" as it shuts off before it burns your hair...

Yes actually I just got one about two weeks ago. I was nice, and now it doesn't look as good as it did. I don't know if its just me or what, but i'm really irritated. Do what you like, you can always straighten it back out if you don't like it, and perms dont last more than 6 months at the most.

yep they just use huge rollers and it comes out wavy I've had it done a few times
