Get your hair no longer than 4 inches on top (I would go even shorter than that, say 2 in) and less than 2 inches on the sides. No hair below your collar on your back of your head, evenly faded, no hair touching your ears.

Good luck.

Why do you need a military haircut to take the oath of enlistment? Uncle Sam will give you a nice cut after you swear in.

Like a few people have told you--dont worry about it. Once you are shipped out to your first base, they will make you pay for a proper BUZZ cut. why waste a haircut now when they will make you pay for a second one later. Just relax and wear your hair like you normally do till the end.

National Guard. That is why you will need a haircut. You start drilling as soon as you enlist. See the hair cuts listed above and get one. When you go to basic, it is getting shaved off. See your recruiter or go to your unit and see how their hair is cut.

Army and Marines cut it very similar and you can go and ask for a "high and tight" and most people will know that means. I have never heard of anyone needing to cut their own hair ahead of leaving for basic training though. My husband went in with his whole head of hair and then when he got to South Carolina for basic, they shaved his head.

Relax. Wear it any way you want right now. My recruiter "told" me all kinds of stuff I should do. Don't worry, you'll KNOW when you have to do what you're told. Dude, your question got me laughing so hard. When you go to the barber in basic you'll be laughing at the guys in line before you because they'll all be rubbing their head after it gets peeled. Then you'll be doing the same damn thing after they peel yours. Hahahaha-good times

Really you have to cut your hair all ready. My husband swore in with hair past his shoulders. I cut it a week before he left for boot camp. Besides they cut your hair again at boot camp. If I was you. Just buzz you hair. Not all the way to the skin. Cause that isn't allowed.

well, since you're going to boot camp, they're going to cut your hair anyway. If you cut your hair really short, they'll practicaly shave it at boot camp. But if it is long, like long enough to put in a ponytail, I'd have the tail cut off.
