He use to be the one that buys everything. Maybe by you buying him things, it makes him uncomfortable and feels like you want something from him. Talk to him about it. It may be something as simple as letting him pay for lunch once in awhile or going dutch to make him feel a little more secure.

There could be a lot of senerios for this situation:
#1 he could be threatend of your own financial stability
#2 he could be used to being the "bread winner" and he feels your stepping in on his duty
#3 he could feel that if you talk about your money or objects of value that your trying to proove or out do him
#4 he could just be a silly guy who doesn't think before he speaks.
#5 He could of just been having an off day and that was the only thing he said!
Um i would talk to him about it and not read into in before you know where he is comming from.
More power to you and your income, don't let it bother you!

Maybe he feels as though you are trying to give him money so that he doesn't have to pay for things since he is still having money issues with his ex's. Just let him be the man and pay for everything-unless he asks you to pay for something or it is a holiday occasion. It does not sound to me like he is tired of the relationship, but good luck!

sounds like he's insecure and would rather like you to be poor and desperate for money so he could feel like the king helping you out. you would think he would be happy to meet someone successful as opposed to a lazy gold digging ex but i guess he wants to stay in the stone age. if anyone said such a rude thing to me i would dump him but i guess what you can do is never buy him anything again, since he's so resentful about it and everything, fine, hand him the bill every time!

It might be a strange situation to be in with you being financially independent, whereas his exes weren't. I'd suggest you let him call the shots if he is not happy with the current arrangement. Play along for a while, but if he is not making the effort let him know.

Well depending on how long you have been seeing him $200 is a lot of money for a gift. He might feel threatned and wants to be the main spender.

What do you mean, ONLY 2 exes? Sounds pretty complicated to me. Do you really think this is going to work out? Good luck.

It could be that things have moved too fast for him and he's looking for an excuse to start trouble.
The best thing for you to do is ask him....making sure he knows it can be honest no matter what.
