I have really frizzy, curly, course, and thick hair. I always leave it up and would like to change that. I want to get a chemical straightener but I don't know what is good and what is not. If goes bad, is it still possible that if I dye my hair black on the bottom and blonde on the top I can still use a flat iron?

if i were you i would NOT chemically straighten my hair, it just ruins your hair really bad. i tried it back in september and when i washed it out my hair was very dry and fried and its still somewhat like that, four months later. if you dont believe me try it and you will see and you will regret chemically straightening your hair, just like i did. so please dont do it, a flat iron/straightner works even thought it may get tiring doing it every morning its better than messed up hair. i hope you take my advise, i dont want your hair to end up like mine.

Chemical straighteners are very harsh for your hair and I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. My stylist wanted to try a new straightener on my hair that is suppose to leave your hair better conditioned then before and it lasts for up to a year. The cost was around $150 but the sad thing is I can't remember what they call it. It's new and that's about all I know. I also think you can use a straightener on any color of hair. Good-luck and hope I helped.

Your suggestions all sound harsh on your hair and the damage inflicted will only dry it out more (leading to more frizzy hair). Deal specifically with what you don't like - the frizzies. CAT, by Redkin is an excellent frizz control for naturally curly hair. There are also conditioning serums that you can use to minimize, add shine, and recondition. Remember, curly or straight doesn't matter - healthy is what is in style!

Don't do anything before you get a hair expert to help you because whatever you are planning to do sounds like a disaster. You sound as if you might need some kind of moisturizing treatment before you could get your hair straightened. Because if straightening isn't done right it might cause your hair to fall out or break, and dying is out of the question.

I wouldn't put any chemical straightners in your hair because it causes alot of damage and really don't do it if your coloring your hair because that could make your hair fall out.As far as dying your hair and using a flat iron that causes split ends because putting to much heat to your hair can damage it.Go to a beauty salon and let them do it.
