Okay a bit of history. Last year I was 100 pounds overweight. So far I have lost 50 pounds through diet, cardio and weights. During my time working with my personal trainer I have become very interested in health and fitness. I would like to take a two year program to become a personal trainer but worried that bc Im still 50 pounds overweight I wont be taken seriously at the school. I plan to obviously lose the rest of the weight and get more fit by the time I train. I go to the gym 5-6 times a week and eat clean so dont think losing it will be an issue. I was just wondering if its better to wait before starting the program until I lost all the weight or is it okay to start now and lose it over the 2 years of the program. Do the college programs make you do advanced plyometrics?

Ok, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't accept you. I'd make it clear that you chose to become a trainer through your weight loss and plan on using the last 50 pounds as a sort of "case study" program to test your skills on yourself and form your best plan.

Good luck. By the way, people like you, who've done it themselves, are the ones who make the best trainers!

Sounds like your pretty smart and know what your doing I would keep up with what you have been doing and don't wait until the program starts keep up the good work! I would be more concerned about keeping up on the cardio as much as others. A good cardio program takes care of the silent unseen problems everyone needs to work on. I'm sure your trainers and doctor would agree with me.

1. drink a lot of water.
2. eat breakfast at 6:30 every morning
3. keep your heart level up for at least 60min/day
4. eat lunch consisting of fruits and vegetables and meat at 12:00pm
5. eat a snack at 3pm of fruit
6. eat a light supper no later than 6:30pm.
The reason that I say start at 6:30am is because it will stimulate your metabolism and the earlier you eat, the more breakfast you can eat
The reason that I say at least 60 min of aerobic exercise/day is because the longer that you keep your heart rate up the more energy you burn.
The reason that I have put you on a schedule of times to eat is because this schedule keeps your metabolism up. The later that you eat supper, the more likely that the calories that you consume at dinner will turn to fat.
I suggest a lot of water because it has no calories and it aids the digestive process. I suggest fruit and vegetables because they do not have many calories and they digest easily.
Eat nuts in the morning because they are difficult to digest and will keep you full longer.
Good luck getting into shape.
By the way, if you run for at least 60 minutes/day you can go out to eat 1 time per week.

I say start now, you can do whatever you want if you set your mind to it. The best advice I can give you is don't be embarrased and continueing working. Before you know it you will loose the extra 50 and be slim and trim.

Of course not.
Hell, it would be discrimination if you were.
It doesn't matter what other people thing.

If it's something you want, you have to go after it.
Such a determined woman like you should already know that.
