How about you get rid of the laundry piles, and the basket. Then go out and buy a hamper with a lid. Next pick up after yourself.

Problem solved.

Or you could put your laundry basket in the closet as well. Still eliminate the clothes piles.

Quick and simple solution.

I know it is gross, but they do it because they are attracted to the smell and discharge. The only thing you can really do is keep your clothes off of the floor and in a hamper inside a closet. Also, do laundry often. If you do happen to see your dog with the clothing, immediately say "no" in a firm voice, and spray him with water. Try to to do this every time you This will hopefully prevent him from engaging in the same behaviors in the future.

Well never had a female dog do it but most male dogs will. I just had to make sure everything was picked up and had the hamper in the closet so they couldn't get to it. Try giving him a toy when you take away your underware and see if that helps. I know for male dogs it is very common of a problem just never dealt with it in a female. My female dog does still my clothes but not to chew just to sleep on.

Prevention is far better than punishment. Keep your clothes behind closed doors or behind a baby gate. Teach her to "leave it." Don't ever hit your dog. Always teach her what you DO want her to do. Use small treats and playing with her as rewards. Reward her instantly when she does what you ask. Teach her to "trade" for one of her toys when she has something she's not supposed to have. Read about training in some of Ian Dunbar's books. Check the web and your public library for books. Go to training classes for basic obedience (not traditional choke chain training but lure & reward training, or clicker training). You'll learn lots and the positive training style classes are fun and effective!

Dogs can be so gross!! One thing you can do is to keep your dirty laundry out of his reach.

Another suggestion is a shock collar. I got one for my cat chasing dog and she is an angel now. We adopted her a year ago as an adult dog and brought her home. She immediately chased my cats in the house and I was afraid she would hurt them. Got the shock collar and zapped her once she bolted to chase them. It only took her one shock to stop. Now she listens to me when I say no about anything.

Just an idea. You could give him a zap as you watch him take your laundry out of the hamper. I know a lot of people think shock collars are cruel, but hey, they work so darn well!

Good luck to you.

my chihuahua does the same thing, and it gets me mad! i try getting a laundry basket but he ends up tipping it over or getting it through one of the whole... try to put your laundry basket inside your closet and down leave your clothes in the floor.

So glad I'm not a dog. And I'm so glad I don't wear underwear! Keep your laundry off the floor (I should heed my own advice!) and keep your hamper behind a closed door. Hopefully, she will forget. If not, you need to train her to stay away.

omg my dog does this too. there is no way to get them to stop, the scent is TOO irrestible... you just have to keep the clothes off the floor/ out of its reach. my dog has ruined sooo many pairs of pants, shorts, panties. she also eats tank top straps.
