Obviously they're not so creationists are just kooks for saying we're out to destroy their religion.

Science is the study of God's work.

There's no contradiction there.

Who says they're trying to undermine God? I happen to believe that belief in God and the Theory of Evolution are not mutually exclusive. Isn't it just possible that God put evolution in motion?

Every culture has a creation story to attempt to explain how the world came to be. Not having the resources we have today, our ancestors had to explain things in terms that they could understand through direct observation.

Even the Bible has evolved. The Bible that we know today is very different from the book put together by the early Church fathers. Some books have been added, others deleted in accordance with what those in charge wanted the masses to believe, with many different translations and interpretations over the centuries. So...there's really no 'right' one.

As the button says: God wrote the program; evolution is the output; meteor strikes are the reset button.

The Catholic Church does not take the stories of creation in the Bible literally. Catholics believe the book of Genesis tells religious truth and not necessarily historical fact.

The religious truth is that God created everything and declared all was good.

Catholics can believe in the theory of evolution. Or not. The Church does not require belief in evolution.

The Church supports science in the discovery of God's creation. At this time, the theory of evolution is the most logical scientific explanation. However tomorrow someone may come up with a better idea.

As long as we believe that God started the whole thing, both the Bible and modern science can live in harmony.

With love in Christ.
