I have been working part-time since 2002. I just started filing taxes last year (2005). I have kind of figured out that I could go to the IRS website, but wanted to know if there is a website that I could use to do them without paying. I used TaxCut last year but they do not allow me to do previous. Also, how could I estimate what my refund is going to be? If I were to fill out everything by hand and mail it in, is there any way that I could receive my refund to my bank account? Thanks in advance!!

For previous years, you can get the forms from irs.gov website. You have to mail them in though, can't efile them. But yes, you can have any refunds deposited to your bank account.

You should file back as far as you were required to. You might not have made enough in some of those years to be required to file.

You can get your refunds back to 2003. You have three years from the original due date. For 2002, it's too late. If you don't file 2003 by April 15, 2007, that one will be lost also.

If you owe taxes for any of the years, you'll have to pay them, with interest and penalties. But it won't get better - the penalties and interest will keep adding up. Filing will at least stop some of the penalties from adding on, even if it takes you awhile to pay off what you owe.

You need to get the forms for the prior years. Either call IRS or go to the web site. You will also need the tax tables for those years. You may want to consult an IRS rep or a tax preparer.
If you have a refund coming back in those prior years using the 1040ex, then IRS will never bother you, but you will not ever get the money that is your for a refund. If you owe any of those years, IRS will find you.

Each year is a different software application for programs like TaxCut and TurboTax. You can go to taxcut.com and order past years' software and I imagine TurboTax sells back years as well.

You can file back for three years only, and you will need to have the right papers for filing for each year. If you know a tax preparer then they may be able to print them for you. I do income taxes, that's how I know.
