Engagement ring inquiry?
My sister's b/f asked me to go w/ him to pick out a ring for my sister, but she has simple, but hard to find taste and we're thinking about having one designed for her. I am looking for people who have buying experience in this department, where I can I find the cheapest and nicest place online (or that will ship out) to design and buy an engagement ring, maybe even an entire set.......

She insists on white gold or platinum and I would prefer sites/places that have many options as in the diamond and the ring shape.
Her dream ring is a Marquise diamond (or a diamond set <>
princess cut diamond) on a v-shaped band. Please help!!!!Thank you.

the thing is, they've been talking about marriage for a long time now, and she knows it's coming in a way. But she says she still wants it to be a suprise. And she's picky, but not very picky, she wants nothing big, bulky, heavy, and she's very tasteful and classy. And I know for a fact she's ok w/ me helping him, and we wear the exact same size ring.

LOOK, I don't mean CHEAP, really, he just can't afford to pay out his a**, and it won't get too expensive cuz all she wants is a solataire engagement ring.

I wasn't really picky about what I wanted, and even though I sent my husband pictures of what I liked and was looking for, we still had to get my diamond reset in a band that I liked better.

My advice is to have your sister's boyfriend go shopping for diamonds (princess cut is my favorite) and then have the stone set in a simple white gold or platinum band. After he proposes your sister can go back to the store with him and chose a band that she prefers more and have the diamond reset.

In my opinion, this is the best way to ensure that she will get something that she really wants, especially if she isn't going to go shopping with him before he proposes, or if he doesn't want to propose without a ring.

I strongly advise buying something over the Internet even if it's from a well known company. Diamonds can look different in photos then they do in person. Certain cuts can make the diamond look smaller or larger. Certain flaws can be either airbrushed out of the photo, or not show up at all, but can be very visible in person. Also, when shopping on-line there is no guarantee that you'll get the diamond you see in a picture.

First off when someone is going to make such a large investment you should Never do that online. You never know what you are going to get. Go to the jewelry stores and jewelry exchange places. The jewelery exchange places have so many jewelers in it you can find what you want at the price you want. See the diamond up close. Books and pics on the Internet can look good by retouching. For all you know it can just be a piece of glass. When you do purchase, get a certificate of authenticy. Then have it appraised at a trusted jewyler

You probably won't find what you are looking for on the Internet or even in most mall stores. When you have such specific designs in mind you should go to a store that will actually make the ring. In that way you can pick the diamond (grade and size etc) and they can make the band to your specifications. They will make a wax casting of the ring then you can approve it and then they will make the ring. I suggest white gold (lots less expensive) but it can be set in a platinum head (best for security of gem).

Have you thought about going to a jewelry mart they do custom design. If your sister is picky I would think her b/f would take her to pick it out and that it a reasonable price men have budgets too. Don't believe that the ring is suppose to be three times his monthly salary, because the ring is a symbol of love not dollar value.

Your selection yet ought to you go with your sister to %. out your ring? the income of going to a respected jeweller is that if she would not like it or if it desires adjustment she has the alternative. maximum significant shops (enquire first) will replace the ring and help you get some thing else. She's the single which has to positioned on it.. My opinion must be to bypass with white gold (in all likelihood plenty more low-cost and spend the more desirable on the diamond.

You never want to go cheap on a diamond. You need to look at a diamond up close to see the color and what visible flaw there are.

the only web sight that i could think of is bluenile.com, i think you can design your own ring on the sight. but i think when purchasing an engagement ring you should go and see it in person, because some things online look so beautiful, big, and shiny, then when you get them in person it is small and dingy

My fiance and I went to the jewelry factory (they'll ship in the USA and it was quality work, luckily we live nearby in Bel Air, MD and picked it out in person), which is the jewelry exchange, now....
