We have been going out for just about 2 years now.. she lives with me on the weekends when I'm off work. I'm 21 and a police officer so I have the whole career thing going for me already and we have been talking about moving out with eachother soon after I Graduate the police academy and get some money in the bank. Just wondering when the right time to get engaged would be? I know this is the girl I want to be with, we get along great and share so many of the same characteristics and views.

Well if you know that she is the one.. then why wait? Buy a ring and ask. No use in waiting when there is no need to wait. At least by having the engagement out in the open you can start planning the wedding. I say the sooner you get engaged, the longer you have to plan the wedding. You can ask her.. she can say yes.. and you can still wait 3 years if you want to to actually get married. Prolonging the planning is a great idea.. it definately brings the stress level of planning a wedding down quite a few notches! This way at least you can make sure that you are both financially prepared and emotionally prepared to say the "I DOs"

As long as you know that this is the one you want to be with for the rest of you life than any time would be perfect. After yous get enagaged than you can wait and decide when finacially would be best to set a date for the big day.

You will know when it is right, count on an 8 month to a year engagement, for enough time to plan a wedding. Sounds as though you are on your way...

You can get engaged anytime....just don't get married until you know you could be financially responsible for her if you had to....you never know when something unexpected could happen....when my daughter got married, she was still in college....was going to wait 5 years before they had a baby....well, things happen.....she had her first baby on their first year anniversary.
