I recently had some horrible pimples so I used my regular acne treatment, but it wasn't helping at all, so my mom let me use hers. She gets really bad pimples so her cream is super strong, it ended up drying up patches of my skin.

What are some homemade cures for the flaky skin? I put aloe vera gel on it, but it didn't help.

OKay, for the pimples 1st try an aspirin (basic brand if u have it) and dissolve it into a paste, placing it on the area(s) of the blemish. My friend tried this and claims it really works. There's also this product called "acne-aid" u can get at the grocery store that works too. it's 10% benzoyl peroside gel.
I have dry skin in the winter bigtime. So I can really help ya on this one:
Do some honey/egg yoke/olive oil maskes at home. 1/4 cup honey, 1 tab. olive oil, 1 egg yoke, mix. do one of these everyday.
*Also try a facial sauna.
Cleanse face, slightly boil water over stove w/a towel draped over your head. This allows ur pores to open. If you have any oil of essential, put a few drops of this in (ex.lavendar) because it's extra relaxing and smells so nice as well.
Do your sauna for about 8-10 minutes.
Then apply pure 100% vitamin E over ur whole face.
Let the vit. E soak in.
Then get an old wash cloth. Cut 2 holes out for eyes, and 1 hole for the nose. Soak in real warm water, squeeze excess water out and place over your face for about 30 min. Try to do this everyday for a week or close to it. EVen tho you should see a difference almost immediately, I swear this works even better after 5-7 days of treatments.
*If you can, treat urself to a professional microdermabrasion. If you have a school of aesthetics nearby, they charge less than half the $ vs. a salon/day spa/dermatologist office
and theeeeeeeeeey are AWESOME!

you should really visit a dermatologist. aacne and dry skin may require a special product. i have combination skin, sometimes oily and some parts get dry specially in the cold weather. so i use 2 different moisturizers. a gel for warmer weather and a cream. dramatically different moisturizer from clinique has both kinds and tehy work for me.
my husband recently got seriously dry patches on his face and i used the cream version on his face and in one day we noticed a big improvement. you should also try to exfoliate more often to get rid of the dead skin cells.
but really, visit a dermatologist. you shoudl take care of your skin.

I've heard of people using honey and salt mixed together or sometimes honey and sugar. It's exfoliating and the honey moisturizes.
