Tubal ligations should be available to a person who wants one.

30 years go, it was difficult to get one--you had to be 30 and be SURE, SURE, SURE you didn't want children.

Phone your local Planned Parenthood and they should be able to help you. That's what my wife did.

laws are different eeverywhere. the only place i know that restricts sterilization with an age limit is Texas. you'll be able to have it done. there are 3 main ways of having this procedure done. 1. the fallopian tubes are cut. 2. the fallopian tubes are burned. 3. there is a new procedure out (very new). the product is called Ensure. Its basicially a little spring the gyn doc insert into the opening of the fallopian tubes. the little spring causes tissue to grow around it and the fallopian tube will cut itself off. it takes about 6 months (to be on the safe side). that burning and cutting; your body can find a way to fix itself, it can reconect after all that, its not 100%. i dont know what that ensure effective rate is. But u dont even need anasthesia for that, which is a big plus.

I think 22 is way too young to make such a permanent decision. Use birth control if you want to have sex...you should anyway so you don't contract diseases.....I know I sound judgmental, but I also know that the way I thought and felt about allot of things are different now that I'm in my late 30's,to when I was in my late 20's,and those were even different from the way I felt and though to my late teens and early 20's. Don't make such a permanent choice now, I didn't start having children till 30. I have two, a boy and a girl 6 & 7 and I'm done.

You will have a very hard time finding a doctor who will do that. They have no confidence that you will feel the same way in 10 years that you do now (think about what you thought when you were 12, the next ten years will do about the same thing). And you could then sue them for doing the procedure on someone they shouldn't have.

this isn't to say that you would change your mind, or that you would sue them, but the change is far too great for them to take it.

Birth control is your friend.

If you want your tubes tied at your age, then you can have them tied. You just need to find a doctor that will do it. There is no law against it.

A side note, not trying to preach or anything, but I also did not want kids at age 22. I thought that they were just snotty, bratty little things that just caused problems and heartache. My husband and I decided before we were married not to have kids. But about 8 years into our marriage, we decided that maybe we did want just one and have never regretted it. Our daughter is now 22 and she is the light of our life. She never caused us any problems, we could give her our undivided attention and obviously we really wanted her, so she was much loved and adored.

I don't think "laws" have anything to do with it. You will probably have a hard time finding a Dr. that will permenantly sterilize you at your age. Especially if you don't have any kids yet. My mom had her tubes tied when she was 38. I was already 19 and her Dr. even gave her a hard time about it because she only had one child.

I know some places won't do it if you're young or if you don't have kids. I'd hold off though because one day you may regret it!

I don't agree with your reasoning because I feel you will change your mind with time...HOWEVER...I admire your honesty and willingness not to do the "abortion on demand."
