I'm leaving in 1 hour for DC. Susan Saranden, Tim Robbins, Danny Glover, Presidental candidate Dennis Kucinich, some congresspeople, and many others are speakers against the escalation of troops

Have you even been to a protest? What kind? and are you going tomorrow to DC or one closer to home?

I wish I could. Hillary Clinton is in town, here in Des Moines, Iowa, and I believe there will probably be enough protesters outside of the high school where she will be speaking. But the protesters probably won't get any press.

I applaud you for helping with the cause !

I was involved in protests before the war began (my group of friends organized one at my school which made the local papers), but now that I have friends in harm's way in Iraq I can't bring myself to protest any more. The Iraq war is still a tragedy, but I'm very conflicted about whether or not we should withdraw from the country before it is settled down. Two of my friends gave their lives for this war - I don't want to feel like their lives were wasted (any more than I already do).

I'm not going to DC, and I don't know if there is gonna be an event where I live. Be careful.
ps- Hey lumber jack- you make some good points, but your credibility drops everytime you attack the asker of a question-FYI
