What you eat does have an affect on your breast milk. I would suggest you try stopping chocolate for a week and see if that improves the baby's condition. Check with your medical doctor and ask for their opinion as well.

Congrats on choosing the absolute best nutrition for your baby. Now.. as for your nutrition... Chocolate is SO not good for you or your baby.. (I personally hate it).. but anyway.. one sure way to find out is stop eating it for a week or so. If you see that your child appears to be less gassy, you know the culprit. I used to be told broccoli can cause the baby to have gas.. that onions make your milk taste funny.. on and on and on.. everyone is different... If your baby still has gas after you have stayed away from chocolate, definetely get gas drops. Any brand works.. but the cheapest we have found is at Wal Mart. Simethicone drops is the generic name for Baby Mylicon or Gas X. It works WONDERS!!! ~~Best of luck~~ and congrats on mommyhood!!

Yes- it can definantly cause gas in your baby and a very upset tummy.I have a 21 month old and I breastfed him for almost 6 months and every time I ate chocolate, anything spicy, anything with onions and things like that my son screamed for hours after feeding.I had to cut alot of favorite foods out of my diet in order to have a happy-ungassy baby.
I am 36 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and am going to breastfeed again and from the start I am going to avoid all the foods I know upset my 1st son.

i would say it could be the reason. when i was breast feeding my daughter i had a very questionable Chinese and i had such a bad belly the next day the baby had a really bad belly when i asked the midwife she thought it was the result of the Chinese i had eaten.
so maybe try cutting out some of the chocolate you eat and see if it helps.
good luck its not easy being a new mum is it!!! but they are worth it x x x x

I do not think so. My 9 week old nephew did nothing but cry. My bro took him to the doc and he was unable to give the baby something. If you think he has gas, there are products for babies to help them relive gas. Going 2 the doc might be your best bet.

HI chocolate has caffinee in it and this could be making the baby fussy!!! Try laying off the chocolate until you stop breast feeding.

For the love of god, please buy some over the counter Infant Mylicon drops and give them to your baby. They have an immature digetive system and need all the help they can get. Buy two bottles of drops so you always have them around. You shouldn't wait for your diet to be free of gas producers, you should give him gas drops NOW.

If you suspect he's gassy, then it may be the chocolate. If something causes you gas, it may cause him to have gas. Try altering your diet and giving him some "little tummies" gas medicine. It's safe for all ages.

you shouldn't eat chocolate, it naturally contains caffiene like coffee, you baby will get the caffiene in his system and it can cause him to act differently.
yes, it could be the reason, but not because of gas.
