1) YES vet as soon as possible
2) YES potentially life-threatening

Possibilities- depends on what vaccinations she has received.

Get her to the vet as soon as possible. She most like has an upper respiratory infection. Basically it's like a cold, but very serious. Sometimes though an upper respiratory infection can be serious. If a cat is sick enough to stop eating or drinking, hospitalization may be needed to support him or her through the brunt of the infection. A cat (usually a kitten) can actually get dehydrated from the fluid lost in nasal discharge. Painful ulcers can form on the eyes, nose or in the mouth. Sometimes fever is high enough to warrant monitoring. In young kittens, pneumonia may result from what started as an upper respiratory infection.

If you think your cat or kitten is significantly uncomfortable with a cold you should seek veterinary assistance with an office visit.

HOW IS THIS USUALLY TREATED?

Since 90% of cases are viral in origin and we have no antibiotics against viruses, it seems odd that most feline upper respiratory infections are treated with anti-bacterial medications.

If you have any other cats in your house, you should let the vet know. The vet might give you medicine for the other cat(s) too because it spreads easy. I've had three cats with this infection.

**Call the vet **ASAP** when you get this and let them know her symptoms, they will probably want to to come right away to have her checked out.

I posted a link below.

Hope this helps and good luck!

This sounds like upper respatory virus. It is a very common virus among cats. Has your cat been vaccinated? If so, this will lessen the severity of it. Also watch for runny eyes and nose as this can also be sings of URV. It takes about 3 weeks for this virus to run it's course. Secondary infections such as phneumonia can occur in cats that do not have a good immune system such as kittens and older cats. It would be wise to have her examined by your vet. Hope this helps!

There are a number of possible things you cat could have. If I were you I would probably take her to the vet just in case it is a deadly disease. Although it might be deadly, you cat could simply just have allergies(like one of my cats). Also check for other symptoms of a disease, like is your cat eating, has diarrhea, or is continually vomiting. When I read things about cats and sicknesses I learned that if your cat is panting, coughing, wheezing or sneezing, it is only urgent when:

Her breathing is shallow or labored.
She is wheezing.
She collapses or passes out.
Her gums are pale pink, white, yellow or blue tinged.
She coughs up pus, blood or pink foamy fluid.
There are accompanying nasal and/or eye discharges.

Take her into your vet asap, it sounds like a case of URI (an upper respiratory infection). It's kind of like a "cat cold" and she probably got it from another outside cat, as it is very contagious with cats. She just needs some antibiotics, but if you don't take care of it right away it could get out of hand.

Hope your kitty is feeling better soon!

Umm I would suggest perhaps go to a vet, I was lucky my cat had something go up there but she ended up sneezing it out and before that she started sneezing mucus and I think that might have helped to bring it out. Get a torch and check up there as well.

Hi,
your cat may have an upper respiritory infection. You should check to see if he or she is have drainage from the nose or eyes. Sometimes they pick up diseases from other cats when they are allowed outside. Take it to the vet and have it checked. The longer you wait, the worse it will get if it's something more serious.

Take her to the Vet because only the Vet can give you a diagnosis. WE can't as we aren't trained professionals. She could have a cold, she could also have allergies. The Vet can help.Give that sweet Little cat a rub under the chin for me.

I would call your vet and see if he can talk to you on the phone-- if not, get her to the vets office. Sneezing is an allergic reaction to something she probably got into outside, I pray it wasn't antifreeze.

Good luck to you and your cat.......
