I am a former Army recruiter. You cannot enlist directly into SF. You have to work your way into there. They require a certain experience level. Expect it to be around the time you reenlist. The best experience is gained if you enlist as infantry, combat engineer, scout, etc. Combat skills will help you get through assessment and selection. Correctable eyesight is acceptable. Talk to a current recruiter about the Lasik surgery before you do it. The military has a handful of Lasik surgeons now so you may save a little money. If you can be happy with glasses or contacts, then the Army can too as long as you don't plan to be a pilot. Being color blind can affect jobs, too. See the recruiter and don't let him blow smoke up your backside. Some of them in all branches will (gasp) lie to you. Email me if you have questions.

You should start talking to some recruiters. The elite forces are tough to get into but if you make that your goal and make it known up front that's what you want to do, you'll stand a better chance. Which branch probably depends on your gut instincts about what you're being told. Also, you mention running and PT but not swimming, diving and water awareness. Those things would be more pivotal for a SEAL or Marine Force Recon guy than for the Army spec ops. Good luck and thanks in advance for your service.

i am not guessing at this.... but if the army spec ops is anything like the joint task force in canada, my understanding is that some of the work they do is sniping. Therfore your eyesight would have to be good to be able to see in a distance, at night etc. They also have to be stealthy, and able to see in night, and not so good conditions. Hoping this helps, and hoping that i am thinking of the same thing..... However, i do not see why if you get your eyesight fixed, why they would not let you in.

well it is preferred to have 20/20 vision in most special forces. Most cases, they would turn you down if you do not have 20/20 vision. Get corrected laser vision. They will accept it. But not having 20/20 vision may drop your chances dramatically to join the special forces.

in special ops or any other sensitive area of the miltary they must remove as much risk of error as posible. So sub par vision would therefore post a problem due to the very nature of the missions that special ops must go on. they wouldn't want to risk u sniping the wrong guy on acident.

You could always ask an Army recruiter this question. Movies about commandos wearing glasses are just fiction.
