Can any current or former Curves members tell me a bit about the start up process?

A few days ago, I was at a Relay for Life fundraiser, and in exchange for donations to the American Cancer Society, they were giving out two week gift certificates for Curves.

Aside from the two week guest pass, the certificate also says “Free Tour and Figure Analysis”.

I’ve actually been thinking about Curves for a while.

I’ve checked here as well as other message boards and woman have mentioned on the first visit they are weighed, measurements taken, body fat, etc.

My question is: they seriously charge for a tour?! Does that go even if you just want a looksie and not get weighed or anything?

I guess I just don’t want to waste my coupon on the tour/ figure analysis if I end up deciding not to try it.

*HUGS*

Curves manager here...

The tour and figure analysis is always free! That's when we get to know a prospective member, figure out what her goals are, what has and hasn't worked for her in the past, and answer any questions she has about the workout.

You've got nothing to lose by trying it for two weeks free. You'll even get a one-on-one session with a trainer, who will show you how all the machines work.

Sometimes they'll let you exchange a gift certificate for a deep discount on the sign-up fee, so ask about that. Things like that are up to the individual franchise, but I can tell you that asking never hurts.

Good luck, and have fun!

As far as I know, they do not charge for the tour and body analysis. When I went for the first time, they took me through the place, showed me all the machines, weighed, measured and did a body fat analysis. It was all free, but with the hopes that I would sign up and start the program.

I just joined curves last night.
They took me on a tour and then did the weight/height/body fat analysis. Then we talked about the membership options and they asked if I would like to join. And I did!
Right now they have a special going on, 30% off the enrollment fee (which makes it approx $107 incl tax) and the first 30 days are free.

I am certain that they will not charge for the tour. I manage another fitness facility for women and I have never heard of this. My recommendation would be to try it out and see what you think. I would also encourage you to check out other alternatives in your area. Women's fitness is growing in popularity and there are so many choices available. Be certain that you know what is out there before you decide.

By all means, use your free 2-week trial and do the tour and analysis. You'll never know unless you see what it is all about.
Good Luck to you!
